No — Artworks is a wall range only. The ceramic body is not rated for foot traffic and the gloss glaze would scratch and lose its shine quickly underfoot. For a floor to sit beneath a Royal Blue wall, a black and white geometric or an encaustic-effect tile is the natural partner, and our team can help you pair one.

The Artworks glazes are applied over a pressed ceramic body, and slight variation from tile to tile is part of the character rather than a fault — it is what stops a large tiled wall looking printed. On a colour this deep the variation reads as movement in the glaze rather than as patchiness. Order the whole of a room in one go where you can, and mix tiles from several boxes as you set out rather than working box by box.

Use a white flexible adhesive. For grout, go dark and close in tone: a deep grey, a charcoal, or a blue-grey pitched near the tile's own depth. Against an indigo this deep, brilliant white draws a bright net across the wall and the tile ends up disappearing behind its own joints. A mid grey is the other one to avoid — too light to belong to the colour and too dark to read as a deliberate contrast, so it simply looks tired. Grout haze shows more readily on a deep gloss glaze than on a pale one, so sponge each section down as you go rather than leaving it.

Royal Blue is the deep one. Original Style describe it as a deep indigo with an air of nobility, and it is the only blue in the range that behaves like a dark colour rather than a coloured one — it absorbs light where the others return it. The alternatives are all lighter and all pull in different directions: one is a warmer blue with a green cast, one a versatile mid-blue, and one a blue-grey that shifts with the light and reads almost as a neutral. If you are weighing Royal Blue against any of them, order cut samples of both and look at them on the actual wall at the time of day you use the room — a colour this deep changes more between rooms than a mid-tone does.

As a guide, add around 10% to your measured area for cuts and breakages, and nearer 15% for a herringbone, diagonal or brick-bond layout. It is also worth keeping a few spare tiles from the same batch in case a repair is ever needed.

The choice is a matter of weight: the Victoria and Plain Cornice at 75mm give a substantial architectural capping, the Egg & Dart and Dentil carry relief ornament, the Albert, Hogarth and Rope sit in the middle, and the Astragal, Sigma, Scroll and Omega are slim beads for a quieter line. On a deep colour a moulding earns its keep twice over, since the modelling gives the glaze somewhere to gather and the top of the run gets a defined edge rather than stopping dead. All are supplied four to a box covering 0.6 linear metres. Measure the run, add 10%, and round up.
