Frequently Asked Questions

Is it difficult to install 60 x 90cm tiles?

Due to their weight and size, we recommend professional installation for 60 x 90cm tiles. The subfloor must be perfectly level to avoid "lippage" (where the edge of one tile is higher than the next). Using a leveling system during installation is highly recommended to ensure a flat, flawless finish.

What is the best laying pattern for 60 x 90cm tiles?

These tiles are most commonly laid in a "one-third bond" or "staggered" pattern. We do not recommend a 50:50 brick-bond for large format tiles, as the slight natural curve in large porcelain tiles can be more noticeable at the center point. A staggered layout provides a more natural and structurally sound finish.

Do large tiles make a small room look smaller?

Actually, the opposite is true. Using 60 x 90cm tiles in a smaller room reduces the number of grout lines, which reduces visual "clutter." This cleaner look can make a small bathroom or hallway feel much larger and less cramped.

How much extra should I order for waste?

For large-format tiles, we recommend ordering 15% extra for waste and cuts. Because the tiles are larger, a single wrong cut can waste more surface area than with a smaller tile, so having that extra buffer is essential.

Are these tiles suitable for walls?

Yes, 60 x 90cm tiles can be used as Wall Tiles to create a dramatic, slab-like effect in shower enclosures or as a feature wall. Ensure your wall is structurally capable of supporting the weight of large-format porcelain or stone tiles before installation.

Why Choose 60 x 90cm Tiles for Your Home?

The 60 x 90cm Floor Tiles format is a "statement" size that balances the length of a plank with the width of a traditional slab. By using fewer tiles to cover a larger surface area, you create a more uniform look that draws the eye across the room, enhancing the feeling of space.

Stone and Porcelain Options
For a classic, organic look, our 60 x 90cm Limestone Floor Tiles offer natural variations that bring warmth and character. If you require a more modern, low-maintenance finish, our 60 x 90cm Porcelain Floor Tiles are virtually non-porous and highly resistant to stains. Consider our Stone Effect Floor Tiles to get the look of natural minerals with the durability of modern ceramics.

Perfect for Indoor and Outdoor Flow
Large-format 60 x 90cm tiles are excellent for creating a seamless transition from your kitchen to your patio. Many of our porcelain ranges are available in both indoor and 20mm-thick Outdoor Floor Tiles versions, allowing you to maintain the same design from your Kitchen Floor Tiles through to your garden.

Compatibility with Underfloor Heating
Because porcelain is a dense material, these large tiles are perfect for use with underfloor heating. They conduct and retain heat efficiently, ensuring your large-format floor feels as good as it looks. If you are looking for a different aesthetic, you might also be interested in our Concrete Effect Floor Tiles or Marble Effect Floor Tiles.
