About Minoli

Minoli is the Italian porcelain specialist in our catalogue. Of the 304 products we stock, 270 are porcelain - this is not a brand that dabbles in it. If you want a large-format floor that behaves predictably in a busy house, this is usually where we start.

Rectified edges, and what they let you do

Most Minoli formats are rectified: machined to an exact dimension after firing, so they can be laid with a joint of 2-3mm instead of 5mm or more. Across an open-plan floor that is the difference between a surface and a grid. It also raises the standard required of the sub-floor and the fitter, because a narrow joint has no room to absorb error.

Effect tiles that hold up close

Marble, concrete and stone effects live or die on how many face variations a range carries. A tile with four faces repeats visibly across a large room; a well-made range has far more. Minoli's printing is among the better examples, and the surface texture generally follows the printed veining rather than running independently of it - which is what stops it reading as a photograph underfoot. Large format and underfloor heating

Porcelain is dense and conducts well, so it suits underfloor heating better than almost anything else. Large formats need a flat substrate, the right adhesive and, over timber, usually a decoupling layer. Tell us the build-up when you order and we will make sure the fixing products match the tile. Popular large-format choices include Beton and Marvel.

Where Minoli fits, and where it does not

It is the right answer for open-plan floors, kitchens, bathrooms and anywhere that wants a calm, consistent surface. It is the wrong answer if you are restoring a Victorian hallway or want visible hand-made variation - for that, look at Original Style or the Fired Earth hand-decorated ranges instead.

Cut samples are free; postage is £4.99 and is refunded on tile orders over £50.
