Product story
Run A Rope Along The Top Of The Dado
A twisted cord of glazed ceramic, 152 x 40mm and finished in a warm, aged grey: the Artworks London Stone Rope Moulding, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.
The Rope carries a continuous spiral of cord across its 40mm face, so that laid end to end the twist runs on without a break. Each length spans 152mm, which puts 6.6 of them in a linear metre; four pieces to the box, 0.6 of a linear metre per box, so a five-metre run comes to 33 pieces — nine boxes. It is made to cap a dado, edge a tiled panel or close the top of a splashback.
London Stone is the warm grey of the Artworks palette, and Original Style connect its vintage charm directly to traditional schemes taken to dado height. On a moulded face that warmth does something a flat square cannot show: the glaze gathers a little deeper and a little warmer where the cord turns into its hollows, while the crowns of the twist stay light, so the modelling comes through as tone. The result has the character of weathered Portland ashlar — a lower half that looks as though it has been in the building a long while, with something paler carried above it.

Installation & care
Installation & care
- Adhesive & Grout: White flexible adhesive throughout. Then choose a grout that keeps the warmth in the joint — a warm grey, a greige or a soft putty sitting close to the tile in tone — because that is what lets the wall read as aged stone rather than as grey squares. Brilliant white does the opposite: it announces that the tiling went up last week, and draws a hard bright grid over a colour bought for looking long settled. A cool or blue-toned grey is the other one to leave alone, since it pulls the warmth straight back out. Work the grout out of the spiral with a damp sponge before it sets.
- Layout: Set the Rope out so the twist runs continuously through the whole length, starting from a full piece on the most visible wall and taking cuts into the corners. Where the run turns an outside angle, our stocked External Corner Trim at 152 x 30mm finishes it in glaze. The Internal Corner and the wrapping pieces are not held in this colourway; Original Style produce them in London Stone to order, against a minimum quantity and a lead time, so ring us before you set out and we will plan it with you.
- Cleaning: The gloss glaze is non-porous and needs no sealing. Warm water and a mild detergent are enough, and a soft brush will lift dust out of the twist. Keep abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers away, as both will take the shine off in time.
Samples
Tone, glaze and veining can read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free; sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and is refunded on tile orders over £50 using the code emailed with your sample order. Use the sample option in the buying panel, or call our Ascot team on 01344 620211 for help comparing colour, finish and quantities.
Delivery
In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.
Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.
When your order arrives
Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.
Returns
Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.
