Product story
A Row of Small Shadows Along the Top of the Wall
A 152 x 50mm ceramic moulding with a repeating dentil block relief, finished in deep claret gloss: the Artworks Burgundy Dentil Moulding, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.
Dentils are the small square teeth that run beneath a classical cornice, and they exist for one reason — to break a long horizontal line into a countable rhythm. This ceramic version does the same at 50mm deep: a tidy procession of blocks and gaps that gives a tiled wall a proper architectural band without the bulk of a full cornice. It can finish a run on its own, or slot beneath the Victoria or the Plain Cornice as the middle tier of a built-up top.
The claret glaze makes that rhythm far more legible than a pale colour would. Each recess between the teeth fills with glaze and goes almost to black cherry, while the face of every block stays bright and glossy, so the run reads as alternating light and dark from across the room instead of a shallow texture you have to stand close to see. It works especially well above a dado in a hall, around the top of a snug or a bar, or in a cloakroom where an enclosed, considered feeling is the whole point.

Installation & care
Installation & care
- Adhesive & Grout: Fix with white flexible adhesive and grout in a mid grey or soft stone tone slightly lighter than the tile. Brilliant white is the one to avoid: on a claret this deep it prints a hard grid over the wall and kills the colour. Rake the grout out of the spaces between the teeth before it goes off, or the pattern loses its shadow.
- Layout: Because the teeth repeat, a badly placed cut shows immediately. Set out from the centre of the main wall, and where a run must be cut, take it at the end that is least seen — the biscuit beneath the glaze is pale, so a cut edge shows as a light line.
- Cleaning: The gloss glaze is non-porous and needs no sealing. Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers, which will dull the surface over time.
Samples
Tone, glaze and veining can read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free; sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and is refunded on tile orders over £50 using the code emailed with your sample order. Use the sample option in the buying panel, or call our Ascot team on 01344 620211 for help comparing colour, finish and quantities.
Delivery
In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.
Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.
When your order arrives
Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.
Returns
Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.
