Product story

Classical Rhythm: Artworks Brilliant White Dentil Moulding 152 x 50mm

A 152 x 50mm ceramic moulding with the regular toothed relief of a classical cornice — from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.

Dentils — the small, evenly spaced blocks that march beneath a classical cornice — have been borrowed by architects since antiquity, and they bring the same measured rhythm to a tiled wall. Run at high level beneath a cornice, or above a tiled dado, this moulding gives a bathroom the quiet formality of a well-proportioned room.

The repeated blocks make the most of a gloss glaze: each one casts its own small shadow, so the band reads as a line of light and dark rather than a flat strip. In the same deep Brilliant White as the whole Artworks range.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: A white flexible tile adhesive keeps the glaze bright. Grout carefully and clear the recesses between the dentils before the grout begins to set.
  • Layout: Because the profile repeats, plan the run so a part-dentil does not land in a prominent corner — take cuts where they will be least noticed.
  • Cleaning: No sealing required. Warm water, a mild detergent and a soft brush will keep the recesses clean; avoid abrasive pads.
Samples

Tone, glaze and veining can read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free; sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and is refunded on tile orders over £50 using the code emailed with your sample order. Use the sample option in the buying panel, or call our Ascot team on 01344 620211 for help comparing colour, finish and quantities.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What is a dentil moulding?

Dentils are the small, regularly spaced blocks found beneath a classical cornice — the word comes from the Latin for tooth. This 50mm profile brings that architectural rhythm to a tiled wall, and is particularly effective run at high level beneath a cornice or above a tiled dado.

How is the Dentil moulding sold?

By the box of 4 pieces, covering 0.6 linear metres at 6.6 pieces per linear metre. Because the profile is repetitive, plan your cuts so that a part-dentil does not land in a prominent corner.

Will Brilliant White match across the different Artworks shapes and mouldings?

Every Artworks piece is finished in the same Brilliant White glaze, so field tiles, half tiles, mouldings, skirtings and corners are designed to be used together. As with any glazed ceramic there can be slight variation between production batches, so we recommend ordering everything for a scheme at the same time.

What adhesive and grout do you recommend for Artworks ceramic tiles?

Always use a white flexible tile adhesive — a grey adhesive can shadow through a white glaze and dull it. Allow a 2-3mm joint and choose a white grout for a seamless, luminous wall, or a soft grey to draw the eye to the layout.

Can I see a sample before I order?

Yes. Cut samples are free to collect from our Ascot showroom, or we can post one to you for the cost of postage. Seeing the glaze in your own light is the surest way to judge how it will sit against your paint, stone and metalwork.
