A beautifully tactile 20 x 20cm plain in a moody charcoal Old Iron plain, the Bert & May Old Iron porcelain tile brings the characterful, hand-made spirit of an encaustic floor to a hard-wearing glazed body – Old Iron from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.
Bert & May built their reputation on richly pigmented encaustic tiles, and this porcelain interpretation captures that depth of colour with none of the upkeep. Laid as a calm field or paired with a patterned decor from the same range, Old Iron lends warmth and quiet confidence to floors, walls and splashbacks alike.
Crafted in matt glazed porcelain at 20 x 20cm, it is frostproof and specified for internal and external walls and floors, wet rooms and underfloor heating. No sealing required.

⚠ Installation & Care Tips
- Adhesive & Grout: Use a high-quality flexible adhesive and a grout in a soft, tonal shade. For wet and external areas, specify a frost-resistant, exterior-grade system throughout.
- Layout: Lay with a 2–3mm joint, shuffling tiles from several boxes to balance the natural shade variation across the surface.
- Cleaning: Sweep and mop with warm water and a mild cleaner. As a glazed porcelain, it needs no sealing and shrugs off splashes, steam and frost.

Delivery And Returns
Access Issues For Large Pallet Deliveries
Our delivery drivers may be prevented from delivering your order by the following:
• Low hanging trees and bridges.
• Narrow roads, gateways, or cars on either side of the road.
• No turning point for the delivery vehicle.
• Unfinished tracks and roads.
• Lack of solid and flat surface to unload.
• Gravel driveways.
If access issues are not advised and/or delivery cannot be made due to unattendance at delivery, a re-delivery charge may be applied.
Checking Orders
Check your delivery as soon as it arrives!
Once the goods are unloaded, they become the responsibility of the receiver.
If you notice any issues with your order, please contact us within three working days so we can resolve the problem quickly and efficiently. Prompt reporting helps us ensure your satisfaction with our products and services.
Fired Earth Tile Returns
Returns are accepted only for complete orders; partial orders cannot be accepted. To begin a return, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your delivery.
All other Brands
You may return your items within 14 days of receiving or collecting your delivery. Please note that a restocking fee of 20% to 30% will apply, depending on the specific terms of the product range. For further details, feel free to contact us.

Orders for special order items are non-returnable unless they are damaged on delivery or are faulty.

Shipping Information
Once an order has been placed goods that are in stock, can normally be dispatched for delivery within 3-5 working days. Delivery of special orders, slabs, large-format tiles, some bathware and sizeable orders is best carried out on one of our specialist off-load vehicles, so timescales will be advised before any tiles are ordered. A specific delivery date will be arranged to suit you.
