Product story

French Bistro Charm: Patisserie Hevin Blue

Bring the romance of a Parisian café into your home with the Patisserie Hevin Patterned Tile—a maintenance-free porcelain floor tile that captures the beauty of heritage design.

Inspired by the decorative floors of traditional French patisseries, the 'Hevin' features a captivating geometric star pattern in a soft blue and off-white palette. While it mimics the look of authentic encaustic cement tiles, it is crafted from high-quality porcelain. This means you get the best of both worlds: a stunning vintage aesthetic that is completely non-porous, stain-resistant, and incredibly durable. It’s the perfect solution for busy family homes, adding character to hallways and kitchens without the need for sealing or specialist cleaning.

Installation & care

⚠️ Installation & care

  • No Sealing Needed: As a high-grade porcelain product, this tile is non-porous and requires no sealing, unlike traditional encaustic tiles.
  • Grout Width: We recommend a 3mm grout joint. Using a light grey or white grout helps the pattern flow seamlessly across the floor.
  • Batch Matching: If mixing this patterned tile with the plain 'Patisserie' base tiles, please be aware that slight tonal variations may occur due to different production methods. We recommend dry-laying your tiles first to ensure a pleasing blend.
  • Pattern Alignment: Ensure your tiler pays attention to the orientation of the tiles to maintain the correct geometric star pattern.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a cement tile?

No, it is a porcelain tile. It is designed to look like a traditional handmade cement (encaustic) tile, but it offers the superior durability, stain resistance, and ease of maintenance of modern porcelain.

Does it need sealing?

No. Because it is porcelain, it is non-porous and does not require sealing. This makes it much easier to live with than real cement tiles, especially in kitchens where spills occur.

Can I use it in a wet room?

Yes. The matte finish provides natural grip, making it suitable for bathroom and wet room floors. It is also impervious to water, so it won't suffer from water staining.

Does the pattern connect?

Yes. The 'Hevin' design features a corner-and-centre motif that connects when laid in a grid, creating a continuous, elegant star-like pattern across the floor.
