Monochrome Elegance: Patisserie Sucre 1

Embrace the effortless style of Parisian boulevards with the Patisserie Sucre 1 Patterned Tile—a sophisticated porcelain tile that combines heritage design with modern practicality.

Inspired by the ornate floors of traditional French patisseries, the 'Sucre' features a classic monochrome geometric pattern. While it captures the authentic look of handmade encaustic cement tiles, it is crafted from high-quality porcelain. This means it is completely non-porous, stain-resistant, and robust enough for the busiest areas of your home. It can be used alone for a wall-to-wall statement or paired with the matching Sucre Border and Corner tiles to create a stunning "rug effect" in a hallway or underneath a freestanding bath.

Installation & care

⚠️ Installation & care

  • No Sealing Needed: This is a high-grade porcelain tile, meaning it is non-porous and maintenance-free. It does not require sealing like traditional cement tiles.
  • Grout Width: We recommend a 3mm grout joint. Using a light grey or white grout helps the pattern connect seamlessly across the floor.
  • Batch Matching: If mixing with plain base tiles (Blanco or Dark), be aware that slight tonal variations may occur due to different production methods. Dry lay your tiles first to blend them.
  • Layout Planning: When creating a "rug" with borders and corners, accurate setting out is crucial. Start from the centre of the room and work outwards.
Samples

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a cement tile?

No, it is a porcelain tile. It mimics the look of traditional handmade encaustic tiles but offers superior durability, stain resistance, and requires no sealing.

Does it need sealing?

No. Unlike cement tiles, porcelain is non-porous. It does not require sealing, making it a much more practical choice for kitchens and bathrooms where spills are common.

How do I create a border?

The Sucre 1 tile is the main "field" tile. To create a border, you will need to purchase the Patisserie Sucre Border and Patisserie Sucre Corner tiles separately. These frame the main pattern to create a finished "rug" look.

Can I use it with underfloor heating?

Yes. Porcelain is an excellent conductor of heat and is fully compatible with both electric and water-based underfloor heating systems.

Why buy from Hyperion Tiles?

We are a family-run business with deep knowledge of heritage tile layouts. We can help you calculate the exact number of field, border, and corner tiles needed for your specific room dimensions to avoid costly wastage.
