The Finishing Line: Abbey Waverley Border Ceramic Tile

The grey and cream border that frames a Waverley floor with period precision — Abbey Waverley Border from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.

Designed to partner the Abbey Waverley pattern, this border tile lets you define the edge of a rug-effect centrepiece or run a decorative band around a room. Its grey-and-cream design flows seamlessly from the main Waverley tile, giving your floor the deliberate, tailored finish that sets a true Victorian-style scheme apart.

Like the rest of the range, each 19.9 x 19.9cm border is pressed in glazed ceramic at 10mm thick, with subtle intentional variation that recalls handmade encaustic cement. It is low-maintenance, needs no sealing and is suited to internal walls and floors and underfloor heating. Pair with the matching Waverley corner tile to turn crisp, continuous angles.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

How many tiles do I need?

The Abbey Waverley Border tiles are sold individually, requiring 5 tiles to cover 1 linear metre (or 25 tiles to cover 1m²). To ensure you have enough for cuts and pattern matching around the perimeter of your space, we recommend ordering an additional 10% on top of your linear room measurements.

Can this tile be used with underfloor heating or in wet areas?

Yes. These highly durable ceramic tiles are perfectly suited for use over underfloor heating systems, as well as on bathroom floors and shower walls.

Do these tiles need to be sealed?

No. Because they are machine-made ceramic tiles designed to emulate encaustic cement, they are already non-porous. Tile sealing is not necessary, making them a fantastic, low-maintenance option.

Installation & Care Tips

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: Fix with a high-quality flexible tile adhesive and finish with a soft, tonal grout to let the pattern take centre stage.
  • Layout Options: A 3mm grout joint is recommended; shuffle tiles from several boxes as you lay to make the most of the deliberate, characterful variation across the surface.
  • Sealing & Cleaning: Unlike traditional cement encaustics, this glazed ceramic needs no sealing. Simply mop with warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner; avoid harsh or abrasive chemicals.
