Product story
One Shallow Curve, Graded From Light Into Dark
Slim at 152 x 26mm and only 7mm thick, with a single shallow curved face in deep bottle green gloss: the Artworks Victorian Green Sigma Moulding, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.
The Sigma is the quietest kind of shaped section: one gentle sweep across a 26mm face, seven millimetres thick, and nothing else happening on it at all. It is neither a capping nor a bead but a transition — the piece that carries the eye from one plane to another without an obvious step. Plain profiles of this sort were the workaday stock of the Victorian tile catalogue precisely because they could be used anywhere without committing a room to a particular style.
A curved face is the one shape that does something very specific in a glaze this deep. It gathers light along its upper edge and carries it down into shadow at the foot of the sweep, giving a graded band of green that shifts as you walk past it; on a pale or matt tile that gradation would barely register. Specify the Sigma where two treatments meet and the junction wants softening rather than announcing — between tiling and painted plaster, beneath a shelf, or as the lower member under a deeper moulding, where its 7mm thickness stops the whole assembly projecting too far off the wall.

Installation & care
Installation & care
- Adhesive & Grout: White flexible adhesive, then grout dark and near in tone — a deep grey, charcoal or dark green-grey. Brilliant white does more damage on this colour than on any other in the range, and on a piece as slim as this it would leave the moulding looking like a white line with a little green in it. A mid grey lands in the dead zone between the two: too light to belong, too dark to register as a decision, and tired either way. Sponge the gloss carefully and change the water often, because haze is considerably more visible on a deep glaze than on a light one.
- Layout: The gradation across the curve reads best when it is dead level and uninterrupted, so run the moulding across a whole wall in one pass rather than stopping and restarting it either side of a fitting.
- Cleaning: The gloss glaze is non-porous and needs no sealing. Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers, which will dull the surface over time.
Samples
Tone, glaze and veining can read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free; sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and is refunded on tile orders over £50 using the code emailed with your sample order. Use the sample option in the buying panel, or call our Ascot team on 01344 620211 for help comparing colour, finish and quantities.
Delivery
In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.
Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.
When your order arrives
Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.
Returns
Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.
