An S-Curve To Carry One Plane Into The Next

A 152 x 26 x 7mm moulded ceramic trim in a warm leaf green, shaped as a shallow S so one surface can run into another without a hard edge: the Artworks Palm Green Sigma Moulding, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.

The sigma is a plain ogee — concave into convex, one curve answering the other across a 26mm face, with no repeat or ornament along it. Its use is transitional. Where two tiled planes meet at a slight step, or where tiling has to lift off one surface and settle onto another, this profile makes the change gradual instead of abrupt. At 7mm it matches the thickness of the field tile it works with, so it sits flush and adds section without adding build-up.

Good positions include the top of a low tiled dado, the junction where a splashback meets a run of shelving, and a change of plane around a chimney breast or a window reveal. A curve like this lives entirely on the light that crosses it, and Palm Green holds up under both kinds. Daylight lifts the convex half and leaves the hollow softer and leafier; under a tungsten bulb or a warm LED the yellow already in the glaze comes forward and the whole profile deepens, rather than greying out the way a cooler green would.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

To request a return, contact Hyperion within 14 days of delivery. For eligible online consumer cancellations, you have a further 14 days after telling us to send the goods back. Contact us for the correct return address; your statutory cancellation does not depend on our authorisation.

Additional supplier returns have their own eligibility rules, charges and exclusions. These do not override statutory cancellation rights or rights for faulty goods. See our refund policy and supplier return guidance before arranging a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Can Artworks Palm Green tiles be used in a shower or wet room?

Yes. Artworks is specified for both wet and dry wall areas, so Palm Green is at home in a shower enclosure, a wet room or around a bath. The background must be sound, dry and properly tanked, with a flexible waterproof adhesive and grout throughout the wet zone. Wet, the glaze deepens and the leaf green goes richer and a shade darker, closer to a wet fern than to its dry colour — then dries back lighter again.

Can I use Artworks Palm Green on the floor?

No. Artworks is a wall tile range only. The glaze is not rated for foot traffic and would scratch and dull quickly underfoot, and a gloss surface of this kind is slippery when wet. A warm green wall sits particularly well above a terracotta or buff quarry floor, or a black and white geometric. Call 01344 620211 and we will suggest a floor to go under it.

Will every Palm Green tile be exactly the same shade?

There is slight variation between production batches, and green shows it more than most colours because the eye picks up a small shift towards yellow or towards grey very readily. Order the whole quantity for a room at once, including your wastage allowance, and mix tiles from several boxes as you set out rather than working box by box. If you need to add to existing tiling later, send us a photograph and we will tell you honestly how close a current batch is likely to be.

What adhesive and grout colour should I use with Palm Green?

Use a white flexible adhesive — a grey adhesive can shadow through the glaze and dull it. For grout, keep it warm and close in tone: a soft stone, a warm off-white or a pale green-grey. Two to avoid. A brilliant white draws a hard grid across the wall and is what tips any green towards looking institutional rather than domestic. And a cool or blue-grey grout fights the warmth in this particular green and leaves it looking gone-over and tired. Warm, quiet, and only a shade or two off the tile.

Is Palm Green in stock, and how quickly can it be delivered?

Palm Green is usually held in stock across the range, field and half tiles and the full set of mouldings alike. We will confirm availability and a delivery date for your exact quantity when you order, and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000. If a piece is temporarily out we will tell you the lead time before you commit rather than after. Call 01344 620211 or visit us at 67 High Street, Ascot.

How does Palm Green compare with the other Artworks colours, and with Jade Breeze?

Artworks offers two soft greens and they are not interchangeable. Palm Green is the warmer of the pair — a leaf green with yellow in it, botanical rather than mineral, and it stays warm under lamplight. Jade Breeze is the cooler one, a sage with a blue-green cast that reads crisper and more Deco. Warm woods, brass and terracotta belong with Palm Green; chrome and black suit Jade Breeze better. They are close enough on a screen to be genuinely hard to tell apart, so order a sample of each and look at them together in your own room before you decide.

Can I see a sample before I order?

Yes. Cut samples are free to collect from our Ascot showroom, or we can post one to you for the cost of postage. Seeing the glaze in your own light is the surest way to judge how it will sit against your paint, stone and metalwork.

How much extra should I order for cuts and wastage?

As a guide, add around 10% to your measured area for cuts and breakages, and nearer 15% for a herringbone, diagonal or brick-bond layout. It is also worth keeping a few spare tiles from the same batch in case a repair is ever needed.

Which pieces are available in Artworks Palm Green?

Fifteen pieces: the 152 x 152mm field tile, the 152 x 76mm half tile, a skirting tile, a plain cornice, an external corner trim, and ten mouldings — Victoria, Egg & Dart, Dentil, Hogarth, Albert, Rope, Astragal, Scroll, Sigma and Omega. Palm Green does not include a large brick tile, bevelled metro tiles, relief-moulded decorative tiles, handed corner pieces, an internal corner trim, wrapping pieces or rounded-edge tiles. Everything is sold by the box.

Installation & Care Tips

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: Set it in white flexible adhesive, as grey adhesive under a gloss glaze reads as a dark cast and flattens the colour. Grout to a soft stone, a warm off-white or a pale green-grey. Brilliant white is the shade to avoid above all, because a hard white grid is what tips any green towards the institutional; a cool or blue-grey grout is the other, because it pulls against the warmth of this leaf green and leaves it looking tired.
  • Layout: Because the sigma is a transitional profile, decide which way up it runs before you start — the concave half normally faces the surface you are stepping down from. Dry-lay the whole run, keep the joints consistent, and mitre the ends where the trim turns an external angle.
  • Cleaning: The gloss glaze is non-porous and needs no sealing. Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers, which will dull the surface over time.
