What matters is what sits behind and between them: a properly tanked substrate, a white flexible adhesive and a grout rated for wet areas. The tiles themselves never need sealing.

No — Artworks is a wall range only. The ceramic body is not rated for foot traffic and the gloss glaze would scratch and lose its shine quickly underfoot. If you want a floor to sit beneath a Baroque Blue wall, a geometric or encaustic-effect floor tile is the natural partner, and our team can help you pair one.

The Artworks glazes are applied over a pressed ceramic body, and slight variation from tile to tile is part of the character rather than a fault — it is what keeps a large tiled wall from looking printed. Baroque Blue shows this more than most, because the green cast in it shifts a little with the light. Order the whole of a room in one go where you can, and mix tiles from several boxes as you set out rather than working box by box.

Use a white flexible tile adhesive. For grout, the rule here follows from the colour: Baroque Blue is a warm blue, so choose a grout with warmth in it — a warm grey, a greige or a soft putty tone. Avoid a cool or blue-toned grey, which cancels the warmth and pulls the whole wall towards a colder, flatter blue than the tile actually is. Brilliant white is the other one to avoid: against a mid-toned glaze it draws a bright lattice across the wall and competes with the colour. Grout haze shows readily on a gloss glaze, so sponge each section as you go.

Baroque Blue is the one that leans green. Original Style describe it as a slightly greener blue with a warm luminosity that sets it apart from the other blues in the range — which is why it sits so comfortably with gold, brass and copper, where a colder blue would fight them. The others are genuinely different colours: one is a versatile mid-blue, one a deep indigo, and one a blue-grey that shifts with the light. If you are choosing between them, order a cut sample of each and look at them in the actual room — blues are the hardest family in the range to judge from a screen.

Yes. Cut samples are free to collect from our Ascot showroom, or we can post one to you for the cost of postage. Seeing the glaze in your own light is the surest way to judge how it will sit against your paint, stone and metalwork.

As a guide, add around 10% to your measured area for cuts and breakages, and nearer 15% for a herringbone, diagonal or brick-bond layout. It is also worth keeping a few spare tiles from the same batch in case a repair is ever needed.

Baroque Blue is not made as a large brick or as a bevelled metro tile, so if a scheme needs one of those formats it will have to come from a different colour. The choice is a matter of weight: the Victoria and Plain Cornice at 75mm give a substantial architectural capping, the Egg & Dart and Dentil carry relief ornament, the Albert, Hogarth and Rope sit in the middle, and the Astragal, Sigma, Scroll and Omega are slim beads for a quieter line. All are supplied four to a box covering 0.6 linear metres. Measure the run, add 10%, and round up to whole boxes.
