Product story
How A Panel Gets Its Border
The framing profile for tiled panels and recesses, 152 x 38mm in warm grey gloss: the Artworks London Stone Hogarth Moulding, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.
Panelled walls work by enclosure. A field of tile with a defined border round it asks to be read as a composition, not as a surface that simply stops, and the Hogarth is made for that job: a 38mm profile with enough presence to hold a boundary on all four sides, mitred at the corners to close the frame. Pieces are 152mm long — 6.6 to the linear metre — and arrive four to a box, 0.6 of a linear metre accounted for each time. A seven-metre border, a generous chimney breast say, comes to 47 pieces, or twelve boxes.
Framed panels are among the oldest ways of using a wall tile in a British interior, and London Stone suits them because it does not look newly installed. Original Style call it a warm grey, with a vintage charm they connect to traditional rooms; enclosed by a border it reads like a stone panel set into plaster, soft and faintly sooted, the grey a Portland façade actually becomes. Take the Hogarth round a splashback, a chimney breast or a bath recess and the tiling gains the edge it was drawn to have.

Installation & care
Installation & care
- Adhesive & Grout: Use a white flexible adhesive. For the grout, stay warm and stay close: putty, greige and warm grey all keep the joint from interrupting the stone-like reading of the wall. Avoid brilliant white, which makes a long-established-looking colour appear freshly finished and lays a bright net across the panel. Cool and blue-leaning greys are just as unhelpful, cancelling the warmth and leaving ordinary grey. Dry-fit the mitres first, then grout the frame in one pass so the corners match.
- Layout: Set the panel out on paper before you begin, so the field inside works to whole tiles wherever it can and the border lands square. Mitre the internal angles of the frame at 45 degrees. For an outside angle on the wall itself the 152 x 30mm External Corner Trim is on the shelf here. The Internal Corner and the corner wrapping pieces have to be made specially in London Stone by Original Style, against a minimum order and a manufacturing wait — call us and we will price and schedule that for you.
- Cleaning: Gloss-glazed and non-porous, so no sealant is required. Clean with warm water and a mild detergent. Abrasives and acid-based limescale removers will take the gloss down and should not be used.
Samples
Tone, glaze and veining can read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free; sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and is refunded on tile orders over £50 using the code emailed with your sample order. Use the sample option in the buying panel, or call our Ascot team on 01344 620211 for help comparing colour, finish and quantities.
Delivery
In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.
Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.
When your order arrives
Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.
Returns
Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.
