What matters is what sits behind and between them: a properly tanked substrate, a white flexible adhesive and a grout rated for wet areas. The tiles themselves never need sealing.

No — Artworks is a wall range only. The ceramic body is not rated for foot traffic and the gloss glaze would scratch and lose its shine quickly underfoot. If you want a floor beneath a Windsor Blue wall, a geometric or encaustic-effect floor tile is the natural partner, and our team can help you pair one.

The Artworks glazes are applied over a pressed ceramic body, and slight variation from tile to tile is part of the character rather than a fault — it is what keeps a large tiled wall from looking printed. On a gloss mid-blue that variation reads as depth rather than as patchiness. Order the whole of a room in one go where you can, and mix tiles from several boxes as you set out rather than working box by box.

Use a white flexible adhesive. The grout is a real design decision here rather than a default. Brilliant white is a legitimate choice — it puts the tile squarely in the blue-and-white tradition and makes the wall read crisp and graphic — but it emphasises every joint, so your setting-out has to be accurate and the effect is a grid as much as a colour. If you would rather the blue carried the wall and the joints stayed quiet, use a soft mid-grey a shade or two lighter than the tile. The one to avoid is a warm beige or greige, which muddies a clean mid-blue and does it no favours. Grout haze shows readily on gloss, so sponge each section as you go.

Windsor Blue is the versatile one. Original Style describe it as a versatile mid-blue, rich and glossy, like looking into deep water — and that is the point of it: it sits in the middle of the family, without the strong cast that makes the others more specific. The alternatives each pull in a direction. One is a warmer blue with a green cast to it. One is a deep indigo for a much more dramatic room. One is a blue-grey that shifts with the light and reads almost as a neutral. If you want a blue that behaves like a blue and works with most schemes, this is usually the answer — but order cut samples of two or three and look at them on the actual wall, because blues change more between rooms than any other family in the range.

Yes. Cut samples are free to collect from our Ascot showroom, or we can post one to you for the cost of postage. Seeing the glaze in your own light is the surest way to judge how it will sit against your paint, stone and metalwork.

As a guide, add around 10% to your measured area for cuts and breakages, and nearer 15% for a herringbone, diagonal or brick-bond layout. It is also worth keeping a few spare tiles from the same batch in case a repair is ever needed.

Fifteen: the 152mm field tile and its half tile, a skirting tile, a plain cornice, an external corner trim, and ten mouldings — Victoria, Egg & Dart, Dentil, Hogarth, Albert, Rope, Astragal, Scroll, Sigma and Omega. Windsor Blue is not made as a large brick or as a bevelled metro tile, so a scheme needing one of those formats will have to take it from a different colour. The choice is a matter of weight: the Victoria and Plain Cornice at 75mm give a substantial architectural capping, the Egg & Dart and Dentil carry relief ornament, the Albert, Hogarth and Rope sit in the middle, and the Astragal, Sigma, Scroll and Omega are slim beads for a quieter line. All are supplied four to a box covering 0.6 linear metres. Measure the run, add 10%, and round up to whole boxes.
