Product story
The Picture-Frame Profile, Drawn Around a Panel
A 152 x 38mm framing moulding with a single sweeping ogee face, finished in deep, near-black green gloss — the Artworks Victorian Green Hogarth Moulding, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.
The Hogarth takes its name and its section from the gilt picture frames of the eighteenth century: an ogee that rises from a narrow fillet, swells, and rolls over to a rounded outer edge. There is no carved ornament on it anywhere — the entire effect comes from the curve. That is exactly why it is the profile to reach for when a run of tiling needs to be enclosed rather than decorated, and at 38mm it has enough face to hold a boundary without competing with whatever sits inside it.
Framing is its real work. Set a panel of field tiles behind a bath, above a fireplace or across a splashback, run the Hogarth around it and mitre the corners, and the tiling stops looking like an area of wall and starts looking like a deliberate object. The deep glaze gives the curve something a painted timber frame cannot manage: the ogee's double curve turns the light twice across its width, so the frame reads as a drawn line rather than a flat strip of colour. One practical caution — mitres mean cut edges, and on this colour the pale biscuit shows as a bright line rather than a faint one, so cut with a wet saw and dress the arris before fixing.

Installation & care
Installation & care
- Adhesive & Grout: White flexible adhesive, and a grout chosen to disappear: deep grey, charcoal or a dark green-grey close to the tile's own depth. Brilliant white is the first thing to strike off the list — on a near-black green the contrast is brutal, and a frame is the last place you want a bright joint drawing itself. A mid grey is no compromise either, simply looking tired beside this depth of colour. Sponge the gloss face thoroughly and change the water often, since grout haze lingers visibly on a deep glaze.
- Layout: Cut the mitres slightly long and offer each corner up dry before any adhesive goes on. A frame is unforgiving of a gap, and the four corners are the first thing anyone looks at.
- Cleaning: The gloss glaze is non-porous and needs no sealing. Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers, which will dull the surface over time.
Samples
Tone, glaze and veining can read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free; sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and is refunded on tile orders over £50 using the code emailed with your sample order. Use the sample option in the buying panel, or call our Ascot team on 01344 620211 for help comparing colour, finish and quantities.
Delivery
In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.
Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.
When your order arrives
Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.
Returns
Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.
