Product story
The Line of Beauty, in Gloss Black
The Jet Black Hogarth Moulding carries a single serpentine curve across 152 x 38mm of gloss ceramic, four to the box, and it ships nationwide from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.
Named for the serpentine S that William Hogarth called the line of beauty, this section carries one continuous curve across its 38mm face, hollow at one end of the sweep and swelling at the other. Three sides of a bath enclosure — 1.7 metres along the back and 0.75 down each return — make 3.2 metres, which is 22 pieces and six boxes.
A serpentine curve is precisely the shape a mirror glaze exploits. The hollow of the S bends light away and stays dark; the swell gathers it and lights up; and where the two meet, the bright edge narrows to a point before reversing. Walk past a run of it and that point travels along the wall ahead of you. The curve is what the light is drawing, and it draws the full length of the run, so round three sides of an enclosure the tiling gets a top edge that never quite sits still.

Installation & care
Installation & care
- Adhesive & Grout: A flexible adhesive, combed and then buttered on the back, holds a curved section properly. The grout then decides how the S behaves: matched to the glaze, the curve flows from piece to piece as one line; taken to brilliant white, the curve is divided into repeated units with a pale rule between them. A mid grey holds the curve back on both counts. Take the sponge into the hollow of the S while the grout is workable, because that is where it collects.
- Layout: Set out so that the curve runs the same way along every wall, and check the first three pieces with a straightedge held across the swell. Where the run turns, cut and offer the mitre up dry before fixing.
- Cleaning: There is nothing to seal; the gloss glaze is non-porous. Warm water and a mild detergent will do it. Abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers should be avoided, as both will flatten the shine over the years.
Samples
Tone, glaze and veining can read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free; sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and is refunded on tile orders over £50 using the code emailed with your sample order. Use the sample option in the buying panel, or call our Ascot team on 01344 620211 for help comparing colour, finish and quantities.
Delivery
In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.
Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.
When your order arrives
Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.
Returns
Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.
