Classical Rhythm: Artworks Palladian Beige Dentil Moulding

A 152 x 50mm ceramic moulding carrying a run of small square blocks in a warm stone beige — the Artworks Palladian Beige Dentil Moulding, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.

Dentils — literally little teeth — come from classical cornice work, and they bring a measured, repeating rhythm to a wall. The blocks throw crisp shadows, so the border carries real relief even in a single quiet colour.

It is the most formal piece in the Artworks range and belongs at cornice height, above a run of field tiles, or framing a fireplace. In a warm stone tone the effect is unusually convincing — the dentil is a stone motif to begin with, and a beige glaze lets it read as carved rather than applied.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: Fix with a white flexible tile adhesive and grout in a warm sand or putty tone. On a relief profile, keep grout off the face of the moulding and clean up promptly, as it is far harder to remove from the recesses once set.
  • Layout: Set the cornice line out from the ceiling and work down, so any cut course falls at the bottom of the wall where it is least visible. Measure the run in linear metres and allow extra for corners.
  • Cleaning: The gloss glaze is non-porous and needs no sealing. Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers, which will dull the surface over time.
Samples

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What is a dentil moulding?

Dentils are the small, regularly spaced blocks found beneath a classical cornice — the word comes from the Latin for tooth. This 50mm profile brings that architectural rhythm to a tiled wall, and is particularly effective run at high level beneath a cornice or above a tiled dado.

How is the Dentil moulding sold?

By the box of 4 pieces, covering 0.6 linear metres at 6.6 pieces per linear metre. Because the profile is repetitive, plan your cuts so that a part-dentil does not land in a prominent corner.

Will Palladian Beige match across the different Artworks shapes and mouldings?

Every Artworks piece is finished in the same Palladian Beige glaze, so field tiles, half tiles, mouldings and the skirting are designed to be used together. As with any glazed ceramic there can be slight variation between production batches, and a warm tone shows that variation a little more readily than a white, so we recommend ordering everything for a scheme at the same time.

Can Artworks Brilliant White tiles be used in a shower or wet room?

Yes. Artworks is specified for both wet and dry wall areas, so it is at home in a shower enclosure, a wet room or around a bath. The background must be sound, dry and properly tanked, and a flexible waterproof adhesive and grout should be used throughout the wet zone.

Can I see a sample before I order?

Yes. Cut samples are free to collect from our Ascot showroom, or we can post one to you for the cost of postage. Seeing the glaze in your own light is the surest way to judge how it will sit against your paint, stone and metalwork.
