A Quiet Nod to Nature: Hoxton Porcelain Four Seasons Brushed

A decorative 60 x 120cm porcelain in warm, creamy tones, its brushed surface worked to a soft tactile finish — from Hyperion Tiles, your official Ca' Pietra stockist.

Four Seasons is the expressive member of the Hoxton family. It carries the same quartzite-derived crystalline lattice as the plain colourways, but the brushed finish gives the surface more depth and a little more movement underfoot — closer to a worked natural stone than a flat matt tile.

It is designed to be layered rather than used alone. Run Amber Matt or Linen Matt as the plain field and let Four Seasons carry a single wall, a hearth or a hallway run, where the texture reads properly against something quieter.

One important note: Ca' Pietra specify Four Seasons Brushed for interior use but not for wet areas — so it should be kept out of showers, wet rooms and bathroom floors. For those, the Amber Matt and Linen Matt carry an R9 rating and are the right choice.

⚠ Installation & Care Tips

  • Where to use it: Interior walls and floors only, and not in wet areas — no showers, wet rooms or bathroom floors. A hallway, kitchen, snug or feature wall is where it belongs.
  • Adhesive & Grout: Use a flexible adhesive applied with a notched trowel, and back-butter to avoid voids. Grout in a close tone so the brushed texture, not the joint, does the talking.
  • Large format: A substrate for the 60 x 120cm must be genuinely flat — check with a long straightedge and use levelling clips to control lippage. A one-third offset suits planks better than a half bond.
  • Cleaning: No sealing required. Warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner; avoid waxes and polishes, which will sit in the brushed texture.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Can Four Seasons Brushed be used in a bathroom or shower?

No — Ca' Pietra specify Four Seasons Brushed for interior use but not for wet areas, so it should be kept out of showers, wet rooms and bathroom floors. If you want the same Hoxton look somewhere wet, the Amber Matt and Linen Matt carry an R9 rating and are specified for interior walls and floors. Call us and we will help you work out the right combination.

What does the Brushed finish mean?

Brushed describes a surface worked to a soft, lightly textured finish rather than left flat matt — it catches the light with a little more depth and feels marginally less uniform underfoot, closer to a worked natural stone. It is a finish choice rather than a slip treatment, and Ca' Pietra do not specify Four Seasons for wet areas.

How many tiles are in a box?

Two tiles, covering 1.44m². Measure your area, add around 10% for cuts, then divide by 1.44 to give the number of boxes. Every tile across the Hoxton Porcelain range works out at the same 1.44m² per box, whichever colourway or format you choose.

What is the crystalline lattice on the surface?

A fine, softly drawn pattern across the tile face — closer to a texture than a print. It gives the surface quiet movement without reading as a decorative tile, so it works comfortably across a whole floor.

Is the 60 x 120cm difficult to lay?

It asks a little more of the preparation than a small tile. The substrate needs to be genuinely flat — check it with a long straightedge — and most tilers will back-butter each tile for full solid-bed coverage and use levelling clips to control lippage. A one-third offset suits a plank better than a half bond. The reward is far fewer grout lines and a much calmer surface. Our team is happy to talk your fitter through it.
