Rhythm on a Wall: Hoxton Porcelain Amber Linear Décor Matt

A 60 x 120cm porcelain wall tile in warm, creamy amber, its face worked into a fine linear relief — from Hyperion Tiles, your official Ca' Pietra stockist.

The Linear Décor takes the quartzite-derived crystalline lattice of the plain Hoxton tiles and adds a ribbed, fluted rhythm across the face. Light rakes along the relief and shifts as you move past it, which is why a single wall of it does far more work than its footprint suggests.

Use it sparingly and against plain. Run Hoxton Amber Matt or Linen Matt everywhere else and let the Décor carry one plane — behind a bath, above a vanity, around a fireplace or as a full feature wall. That contrast is what the range is designed for.

Please note: Ca' Pietra specify the Linear Décor for interior walls. For the floor beneath it, the plain Hoxton Amber Matt is the matching choice and is rated for interior floors.

⚠ Installation & Care Tips

  • Where to use it: Interior walls. Set out the relief so the ribs run true — vertical is the usual choice, and worth deciding before the first tile goes on, as the direction changes the whole effect.
  • Adhesive & Grout: Use a flexible adhesive with full back-buttering. Keep grout off the face of the relief and clean up promptly, as it is far harder to remove from the flutes once set.
  • Large format: The wall must be genuinely flat before you begin — any bow shows up along a 120cm rib. Levelling clips help keep the faces true.
  • Cleaning: No sealing required. Warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner, with a soft brush along the flutes; avoid waxes and polishes.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use the Linear Décor in a scheme?

Sparingly, and against plain. The linear relief is designed to be combined with the flat Hoxton colourways — Amber Matt, Linen Matt or Four Seasons Brushed — so a single decorated wall or panel reads as deliberate rather than busy. Run the plain tile everywhere else and let the Décor carry one plane.

Can the Linear Décor be used on a floor?

It is specified for interior walls rather than floors. The usual approach is to run the plain Hoxton Amber Matt across the floor and use the Linear Décor on a wall — behind a bath, above a vanity or as a full feature wall — so the pattern reads at eye level where it does the most work.

How many tiles are in a box?

Two tiles, covering 1.44m². Measure your area, add around 10% for cuts, then divide by 1.44 to give the number of boxes. Every tile across the Hoxton Porcelain range works out at the same 1.44m² per box, whichever colourway or format you choose.

What is the crystalline lattice on the surface?

A fine, softly drawn pattern across the tile face — closer to a texture than a print. It gives the surface quiet movement without reading as a decorative tile, so it works comfortably across a whole floor.

Is the 60 x 120cm difficult to lay?

It asks a little more of the preparation than a small tile. The substrate needs to be genuinely flat — check it with a long straightedge — and most tilers will back-butter each tile for full solid-bed coverage and use levelling clips to control lippage. A one-third offset suits a plank better than a half bond. The reward is far fewer grout lines and a much calmer surface. Our team is happy to talk your fitter through it.
