Venetian Inspiration: Rialto Terrazzo San Polo Honed

Capture the vibrant architectural spirit of Venice with the Rialto Terrazzo San Polo Honed Tile by Ca' Pietra.

A definitive choice in our Terrazzo Collection, the Rialto range is a modern reimagining of the classic Italian floor. Crafted from recycled marble and waste stone materials, the San Polo colourway features a multi-coloured, grey-toned palette that offers an organic and atmospheric look. The honed finish provides a smooth, matte surface that enhances the tactile appeal of the marble chips while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic.

At 12mm thick, these 60x60cm tiles are designed for internal floors and walls, providing a durable and sustainable surface for kitchens, hallways, and bathrooms. As a through-bodied real terrazzo, the Rialto series carries the prestige of authentic stone with a high degree of V3 tonal variation, ensuring every installation is completely unique.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Sealing: Real terrazzo is porous and requires protection. We recommend a high-quality impregnating sealer like LTP Mattstone to protect the stone while maintaining the honed finish.
  • Grout: Use a fine-grade flexible grout. Tonal shades like Silver Grey or Manhattan often complement the San Polo palette beautifully.
  • Layout: Due to the V3 variation, always dry-lay tiles from multiple boxes before fixing to ensure an even distribution of colours and marble fragments.
  • Cleaning: Maintain the surface with pH-neutral stone soaps only. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners which can damage the resin and marble chips.
Delivery And Returns

Try it before you commit

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Rialto San Polo "Sustainable"?

The Rialto collection is part of a modern movement toward eco-friendly luxury. The tiles are manufactured using recycled marble fragments and waste materials from the stone industry. This reduces environmental impact while providing the genuine depth and beauty of real Italian terrazzo.

Is this tile suitable for wet areas like bathrooms and showers?

Yes. Rialto San Polo is suitable for internal walls and floors in bathrooms and kitchens. However, as it is a real terrazzo product, it is porous and must be correctly sealed upon installation. It carries a PTV 22 slip rating when wet, making it a practical and stylish choice for domestic interior spaces.

How do I clean and maintain real terrazzo floors?

To preserve the honed finish, we recommend cleaning only with pH-neutral stone soaps. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners (such as bleach or vinegar), as these can damage the resin binder and the natural marble chips. Regular sealing every few years will keep the stone protected and looking its best.
