Contemporary Heritage: Rialto Terrazzo Santa Croce Honed

Capture the atmospheric elegance of a modern Italian palazzo with the Rialto Terrazzo Santa Croce Honed Tile by Ca' Pietra.

A definitive highlight of our Terrazzo Collection, the Rialto range represents the pinnacle of sustainable luxury. The Santa Croce colourway features a deep, dark base that provides a stunning contrast to the multi-tonal marble chips embedded within. The honed finish provides a refined, matte surface that enhances the natural shimmer of the stone fragments while maintaining a sleek, non-reflective aesthetic.

At 12mm thick, these 60x60cm tiles are expertly engineered for internal floors and walls. Made from a blend of recycled marble and high-grade resin, this "real" terrazzo offers the architectural weight and prestige of traditional Venetian flooring with the enhanced durability and ease of installation required for modern residential and commercial projects.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Sealing: This is a natural marble composite. It must be sealed with a high-quality impregnating sealer like LTP Mattstone to protect the marble chips from staining.
  • Grout: Use a fine-grade flexible grout. Darker tones like Anthracite or Charcoal are recommended to blend seamlessly with the Santa Croce base.
  • Layout: Due to the V3 variation, always dry-lay tiles from several boxes before fixing to ensure an even distribution of the marble fragment patterns.
  • Cleaning: Use only pH-neutral stone cleaners. Avoid acidic or abrasive household cleaners, as these can etch the marble fragments and damage the sealer.
Delivery And Returns

Try it before you commit

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between resin-based and cement-based real terrazzo?

Resin-based terrazzo, like the Santa Croce, is typically thinner (12mm) and lighter than traditional cement versions, making it easier to install on a wider variety of internal substrates. It offers exceptional strength and a slightly more uniform finish while still using genuine marble fragments to provide that authentic Venetian look.

Does Santa Croce Terrazzo require sealing?

Yes. While the resin binder is non-porous, the natural marble chips within the tile are porous. To protect the surface from staining and to maintain the integrity of the honed finish, it is essential to apply a high-quality impregnating sealer during installation.

Is this tile suitable for kitchen floors?

Absolutely. Real terrazzo is an incredibly hard-wearing material. The dark palette of the Santa Croce is particularly forgiving in high-traffic areas. When correctly sealed, it is resistant to the spills and wear of a busy kitchen, providing a prestigious foundation that ages beautifully.
