The Deepest of the Ten Mouldings

A 152 x 75mm relief-moulded ceramic border, the fullest profile in the Artworks moulding set, in a warm leaf green: the Artworks Palm Green Victoria Moulding, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.

Seventy-five millimetres deep, the Victoria is the most generous of the ten Artworks mouldings, and the relief on its face has room to be properly modelled rather than merely suggested. On a warm leaf green that modelling is worth having. The glaze gathers and runs thicker in the hollows, where it darkens towards a deep fern, while the crowns of the profile stay lighter and glossier — so the ornament reads as depth of foliage rather than as a line drawn on a flat tile. Four pieces to a box cover 0.6 linear metres at 6.6 pieces per metre; a 2.4 metre band needs 16 pieces, which is four boxes.

Give it the position that deserves the depth: crowning a dado in a garden room, capping full-height tiling in a conservatory or an orangery, or marking the top of a panelled run in a hallway where the ceiling is high enough to carry it. Light is the other reason to choose it here. Daylight rakes across the profile and lifts the crowns to something distinctly leafy, while a tungsten bulb or a low colour-temperature LED brings the yellow in the glaze forward after dark, so the shadows in the relief warm up instead of going grey. Set it against unlacquered brass or cane and the palm-house reference makes itself without being stated.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Can Artworks Palm Green tiles be used in a shower or wet room?

Yes. Artworks is specified for both wet and dry wall areas, so Palm Green is at home in a shower enclosure, a wet room or around a bath. The background must be sound, dry and properly tanked, with a flexible waterproof adhesive and grout throughout the wet zone. Wet, the glaze deepens and the leaf green goes richer and a shade darker, closer to a wet fern than to its dry colour — then dries back lighter again.

Can I use Artworks Palm Green on the floor?

No. Artworks is a wall tile range only. The glaze is not rated for foot traffic and would scratch and dull quickly underfoot, and a gloss surface of this kind is slippery when wet. A warm green wall sits particularly well above a terracotta or buff quarry floor, or a black and white geometric. Call 01344 620211 and we will suggest a floor to go under it.

Will every Palm Green tile be exactly the same shade?

There is slight variation between production batches, and green shows it more than most colours because the eye picks up a small shift towards yellow or towards grey very readily. Order the whole quantity for a room at once, including your wastage allowance, and mix tiles from several boxes as you set out rather than working box by box. If you need to add to existing tiling later, send us a photograph and we will tell you honestly how close a current batch is likely to be.

What adhesive and grout colour should I use with Palm Green?

Use a white flexible adhesive — a grey adhesive can shadow through the glaze and dull it. For grout, keep it warm and close in tone: a soft stone, a warm off-white or a pale green-grey. Two to avoid. A brilliant white draws a hard grid across the wall and is what tips any green towards looking institutional rather than domestic. And a cool or blue-grey grout fights the warmth in this particular green and leaves it looking gone-over and tired. Warm, quiet, and only a shade or two off the tile.

Is Palm Green in stock, and how quickly can it be delivered?

Palm Green is usually held in stock across the range, field and half tiles and the full set of mouldings alike. We will confirm availability and a delivery date for your exact quantity when you order, and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000. If a piece is temporarily out we will tell you the lead time before you commit rather than after. Call 01344 620211 or visit us at 67 High Street, Ascot.

How does Palm Green compare with the other Artworks colours, and with Jade Breeze?

Artworks offers two soft greens and they are not interchangeable. Palm Green is the warmer of the pair — a leaf green with yellow in it, botanical rather than mineral, and it stays warm under lamplight. Jade Breeze is the cooler one, a sage with a blue-green cast that reads crisper and more Deco. Warm woods, brass and terracotta belong with Palm Green; chrome and black suit Jade Breeze better. They are close enough on a screen to be genuinely hard to tell apart, so order a sample of each and look at them together in your own room before you decide.

Can I see a sample before I order?

Yes. Cut samples are free to collect from our Ascot showroom, or we can post one to you for the cost of postage. Seeing the glaze in your own light is the surest way to judge how it will sit against your paint, stone and metalwork.

How much extra should I order for cuts and wastage?

As a guide, add around 10% to your measured area for cuts and breakages, and nearer 15% for a herringbone, diagonal or brick-bond layout. It is also worth keeping a few spare tiles from the same batch in case a repair is ever needed.

Which pieces are available in Artworks Palm Green?

Fifteen pieces: the 152 x 152mm field tile, the 152 x 76mm half tile, a skirting tile, a plain cornice, an external corner trim, and ten mouldings — Victoria, Egg & Dart, Dentil, Hogarth, Albert, Rope, Astragal, Scroll, Sigma and Omega. Palm Green does not include a large brick tile, bevelled metro tiles, relief-moulded decorative tiles, handed corner pieces, an internal corner trim, wrapping pieces or rounded-edge tiles. Everything is sold by the box.

Are there corner pieces for the Palm Green Victoria Moulding?

No — handed corner pieces are not stocked in Palm Green. External corners are formed by mitring two lengths on site, which a good tiler will do neatly with a wet saw. The biscuit beneath the glaze is pale, so a cut edge shows as a light line; turn the mitre towards the least visible side of the corner and allow a little extra material for the cuts.

Installation & Care Tips

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: White flexible adhesive only — grey will shadow through and take the light out of the crowns. Grout to a soft stone, a warm off-white or a pale green-grey, and work it into the vertical joints alone: grout pressed into the recesses of the relief fills the shadows that give this piece its depth, so wipe the profile clean while everything is still wet. Rule out brilliant white, which turns the joints into a hard grid and pushes the green towards the institutional, and rule out any cool or blue-grey tone, which fights the warmth of this glaze and leaves the band looking tired.
  • Layout: Fix at a consistent height around the room and check the relief runs continuously through each joint before the adhesive goes off, since a misaligned profile is far more visible than a misaligned flat tile. Mitre external returns so the modelling carries round the corner rather than stopping dead against a cut.
  • Cleaning: The gloss glaze is non-porous and needs no sealing. Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers, which will dull the surface over time.
