The Quietest of the Whites: Artworks Ivory Field Tile 152 x 152mm

A soft cream 152 x 152mm gloss ceramic square with a cool grey undertone — the Artworks Ivory Field Tile, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.

Ivory is the most neutral white in the Artworks palette. It carries the softness of a cream without the yellow, and a faint grey undertone that keeps it calm beside blues, greens and greys — the colours that can make a warmer cream look sallow. In a north-facing room it reads as a gentle, even light rather than a chill one.

The 152 x 152mm square is the traditional Victorian wall format and the most versatile piece in the range. Stack it straight for a calm, architectural wall, brick-bond it for a softer domestic rhythm, or set it on the diagonal for a period scheme. It coordinates precisely with every Artworks Ivory moulding, skirting and cornice.

Installation & care

Adhesive & Grout: Fix with a white flexible tile adhesive — a grey adhesive can shadow through the glaze — and grout in a soft off-white or pale stone tone, which suits Ivory's cooler cream better than either a stark brilliant white or a warm putty.
Layout: Allow a 2-3mm joint and set out from the centre of the wall so cuts fall evenly at each end. Order around 10% extra for cuts and breakages.
Cleaning: The gloss glaze is non-porous and needs no sealing. Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers, which will dull the surface over time.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

How many Ivory Field Tiles do I need for my wall?

Each box holds 22 tiles and covers 0.511m², working out at 43 tiles per square metre. Measure the height and width of each wall, multiply for the area, add roughly 10% for cuts, then divide by 0.511 to give the number of boxes.

Can a 152 x 152mm field tile be laid in something other than a straight grid?

Yes. A square field tile is most often stacked straight for a calm, architectural wall, but it also works brick-bonded with a half-tile offset, or turned through 45 degrees for a diamond layout that suits period bathrooms and hallways particularly well.

How does Ivory compare with the other Artworks whites?

Ivory is the most neutral of them — a soft cream carrying a cool grey undertone rather than a yellow one. Brilliant White is a clean, almost optical white; County White is the classic warm Victorian cream; Vintage White is the warmest and most obviously aged. Ivory is the one to choose alongside blues, greens and greys, where a warmer cream can start to look yellow. They look markedly different on a wall, so order samples of any you are torn between.

Which Artworks pieces are available in Ivory?

Ivory is a fifteen-piece range: the 152 x 152mm field tile and 152 x 76mm half tile, a skirting tile, a plain cornice, an external corner trim, and the Victoria, Albert, Hogarth, Dentil, Egg & Dart, Rope, Scroll, Astragal, Sigma and Omega mouldings. The metro bevelled, large brick, rectangle, rounded-edge and wrapping pieces offered in some other Artworks colours are not made in Ivory. If your scheme needs one of those, call us and we will help you work round it.

Can Artworks Brilliant White tiles be used in a shower or wet room?

Yes. Artworks is specified for both wet and dry wall areas, so it is at home in a shower enclosure, a wet room or around a bath. The background must be sound, dry and properly tanked, and a flexible waterproof adhesive and grout should be used throughout the wet zone.

Are Artworks tiles suitable for floors?

No. Artworks is a glazed ceramic wall tile, specified for internal walls only. If you would like a floor to sit alongside it, our team can suggest a porcelain or encaustic-effect tile that complements Ivory and carries the wear rating a floor requires.

How much extra should I order for cuts and wastage?

As a guide, add around 10% to your measured area for cuts and breakages, and nearer 15% for a herringbone, diagonal or brick-bond layout. It is also worth keeping a few spare tiles from the same batch in case a repair is ever needed.
