Timeless Tradition: Chepstow Rustic Oak

Embrace the enduring character of classic English oak with Chepstow Rustic Oak—a superior 21mm engineered plank that delivers structural power with a traditional golden honey finish.

Chepstow Rustic Oak is the quintessential wood floor, designed to look as though it has been part of your home for centuries. The 190mm wide planks feature a "Rustic" grade, celebrating the natural beauty of the tree with flowing grain patterns, rich colour variations, and dark knots that add depth and personality. At 21mm thick with a substantial 6mm wear layer, this is a heavy-duty, load-bearing floor built for longevity. The surface is brushed to enhance the grain texture and sealed with Hardwax Oil, creating a satin sheen that is durable, easy to maintain, and warm to the touch.

⚠️ Professional Installation Tips

  • Structural Fitting: Chepstow 21mm can be secret nailed directly to floor joists (at 400mm centres) as a load-bearing floor, or floated over an underlay.
  • Underfloor Heating: Compatible with UFH. However, for efficient heat transfer with this 21mm thick board, a full surface bond (glue-down) installation is highly recommended over the UFH screed.
  • Maintenance: This floor is Oiled. You should use a liquid wax cleaner (like Woodpecker One Coat Soap) to clean and nourish the floor. Do not use standard detergents.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What does "Rustic" mean?

Rustic grade means the floor displays the natural characteristics of the oak tree. You will see knots (up to 35mm), colour variations between planks, and black fillers where knots have been repaired. This creates a floor with personality and charm, rather than a uniform "plastic" look.

Is this a structural floor?

Yes! The defining feature of the Chepstow range is its 21mm thickness. It is strong enough to be nailed directly to timber joists (at 400mm centres), acting as the primary floor structure without the need for a subfloor.

What is Brushed & Oiled?

The "Brushed" process removes softer spring wood from the surface, accentuating the grain texture so you can feel the wood's pattern. "Oiled" means the timber is saturated with Hardwax Oil, which penetrates and protects the wood from within, giving a natural matte finish that is easy to repair locally.

How long will it last?

With a massive 6mm wear layer of real oak, Chepstow floors are built for longevity. This top layer is thick enough to be sanded down and refinished multiple times over the decades, making it a true investment for the future of your home.

Why buy from Hyperion Tiles?

We are a family-run business with deep technical expertise. We don't just sell flooring; we can guide you on structural installations, UFH systems, and the correct maintenance oil to use, ensuring your investment looks beautiful for years to come.
