Silvered Strength: Chepstow Silverglade Oak

Capture the rugged beauty of weathered timber with Chepstow Silverglade Oak—a superior 21mm engineered plank that combines structural power with a bold, distressed silver-grey finish.

Chepstow Silverglade Oak is designed for those who want their floor to make a statement. Inspired by woodland timber that has greyed under the elements, this floor features a striking palette of silver, pewter, and charcoal tones. The surface is heavily distressed by hand, with tumbled edges and deliberate scrapes that give it the authentic look and feel of reclaimed wood. Despite its aged appearance, it is built on a modern 21mm structural core with a massive 6mm wear layer, making it strong enough to act as a load-bearing floor while adding instant heritage character to your home.

Installation & care

⚠️ Professional Installation Tips

  • Structural Fitting: Chepstow 21mm can be secret nailed directly to floor joists (at 400mm centres) as a load-bearing floor, or floated over an underlay.
  • Underfloor Heating: Compatible with UFH. However, for efficient heat transfer with this 21mm thick board, a full surface bond (glue-down) installation is highly recommended over the UFH screed.
  • UV Oiled Finish: This floor is finished with UV Oil, which is cured under UV light for a harder, more durable surface than standard oil, while retaining the natural look.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Is it a structural floor?

Yes. The defining feature of the Chepstow range is its 21mm thickness. This means it is strong enough to be used as a structural subfloor. You can nail it directly to timber joists (spaced at 400mm centres), which is perfect for renovations where you want to replace old pine floorboards with premium oak.

How long will it last?

With a massive 6mm wear layer of real oak, Chepstow floors are built for longevity. This top layer is thick enough to be sanded down and refinished multiple times over the decades, making it a true investment for the future of your home.

Why buy from Hyperion Tiles?

We are a family-run business with deep technical expertise. We don't just sell flooring; we can guide you on structural installations, UFH systems, and the correct maintenance oil to use, ensuring your investment looks beautiful for years to come.

What makes this floor "Distressed"?

Unlike smooth floors, Silverglade Oak is hand-finished to look aged. This includes "tumbled" edges (which look soft and worn rather than sharp), intentional scrapes, and indentations on the surface. These aren't defects; they are crafted features that give the floor a reclaimed, antique character.

Is Silverglade Oak grey or brown?

It is predominantly a dark, silvery grey, but because it is natural oak, you will see undertones of the original wood coming through, especially in the grain. This variation prevents it from looking like a flat, painted grey floor and ensures it feels warm and organic.

What is "UV Oiled"?

UV Oil is a hybrid finish. It penetrates the wood like a traditional oil to bring out the grain, but it is then cured rapidly under UV light during manufacturing. This creates a harder, more protective surface seal than standard air-dried oil, making it slightly more durable against liquid spills while keeping a matte look.
