Product story

Liquid Gold Light: Dionysus Metallic Glass 300 x 100mm Wall Tile

A warm, gilded shimmer that lifts any wall it touches, from Hyperion Tiles.

The Dionysus glass tile wears a soft gold metallic sheen that shifts and glows as light moves across it. In a slim 300 x 100mm brick format it brings a jewel-like richness to kitchen splashbacks, bathroom walls and statement features, settling comfortably into both classic and contemporary schemes.

Formed from non-porous glass, the surface is light-reflective, moisture-resistant and simple to wipe clean. The generous rectangular format lays quickly in stack or brick bond, and its reflective face helps smaller rooms feel brighter and more open.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Adhesive — always fix with a WHITE glass tile adhesive; a translucent glass tile shows darker adhesive through the body, dulling the finish
  • Edges — take care with cut or exposed edges and finish them with a matching trim
  • Where to use — non-porous and wipe-clean; ideal for kitchen splashbacks, shower and bathroom walls and other wet areas
  • Cleaning — wipe with a soft cloth and mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemicals
Samples

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What gives these tiles their metallic finish?

The metallic effect is applied to the glass rather than being a solid metal tile. Depending on the range, it is achieved with a fired metallic glaze, a vapour-deposited coating, or metal leaf applied behind the glass.

Because the effect sits in or behind the glass, it keeps the depth and light-catching quality of glass while reading as brushed or polished metal. It also means the surface stays non-porous and easy to clean.

Will a metallic glass tile tarnish or discolour?

The metallic layer is protected by the glass itself or by a fired surface, so it will not tarnish the way bare brass or copper does. It should hold its colour indefinitely on an interior wall.

What does mark it is abrasive cleaning. Scouring pads, cream cleaners and limescale removers can dull or scratch the finish. Warm water and a soft cloth is all it normally needs.

Are metallic glass tiles suitable behind a hob or in a shower?

Behind a hob, yes — they are non-porous and wipe clean, which makes them a strong splashback material. Observe your appliance manufacturer's clearance from direct flame.

In a shower, most of our metallic glass ranges are suitable for the walls, but a few of the leafed finishes are not rated for constant direct water. Tell us which tile and which area and we will confirm before you order.

Do metallic tiles show fingerprints and water marks?

Polished and mirror-like metallic finishes will show marks in the same way any gloss surface does, particularly in a hard water area. Brushed and satin metallic finishes hide them considerably better.

If the tile is going somewhere heavily handled or splashed, such as around a basin, a brushed or textured finish is usually the easier choice to live with. Buff dry after cleaning to avoid limescale spotting.

How many tiles of this size do I need per square metre?

At 300 x 100 x 6mm, each tile covers roughly 0.03m², which works out at about 33.33 tiles per square metre.

To work out your order: multiply the height by the width of each area you are tiling to get the total square metres, multiply that figure by 33.33, then round up to the nearest full tile. Add 10% on top for cuts and breakages, or around 15% for a herringbone or diagonal layout.

If you would rather not do the sums, send us the dimensions of your space and we will confirm the quantity — and if you are close to a box quantity we will tell you, as it is often cheaper to take the full box. Free cut samples are available, and you are welcome to see the range in our Ascot showroom.
