A Japanese Tie-Dye Pattern: Designers Guild Shibori Stone Porcelain Floor Tile

A patterned porcelain tile from the Fired Earth × Designers Guild collaboration — Designers Guild Shibori Stone from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.

Shibori is created in the Designers Guild studio using techniques inspired by the ancient Japanese art of tie-dyeing — geometric, yet softened with real soul and movement. Printed onto matt glazed porcelain, the pattern is hard-wearing and colour-fast.

Stone softens the tie-dye to a warm, neutral beige — the most versatile Shibori shade, quietly textural and easy to live with across an entire room.

The Hyperion Family Promise

  • Design Continuity - Shibori comes in four Designers Guild colours — Cobalt, Duck Egg, Graphite and Stone — part of the collaboration alongside the Jaal and Laterza patterns, all on a 20 x 20cm porcelain square.
  • Premium Durability - Glazed porcelain, frostproof and rated for internal and external walls and floors, wet rooms and underfloor heating. No sealing required.
  • Order a Sample - See the colour in your own light first. As an official Fired Earth stockist, we offer free cut samples to collect from our Ascot showroom, or posted to your door for a small postage charge.
  • Dedicated Delivery - We arrange safe, secure delivery for your renovation, with free UK delivery on orders over £1,000.
  • Personalised Project Support - Our family-run team can help you calculate quantities: sold per tile, with 25 tiles covering 1m² (each tile 0.04m²).

⚠ Installation & Care Tips

  • Adhesive & Grout: Use a high-quality flexible adhesive and a grout in a soft, tonal shade. For wet and external areas, specify a frost-resistant, exterior-grade system throughout.
  • Layout Options: Lay with a 3mm joint, shuffling tiles from several boxes to balance the print across the surface. The 20 x 20cm square suits floors, feature walls and splashbacks alike.
  • Cleaning: Sweep and mop with warm water and a mild cleaner. Glazed porcelain needs no sealing and shrugs off splashes, steam and frost.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

How many Designers Guild Shibori Stone tiles will I need?

Designers Guild Shibori Stone is sold individually, with 25 tiles covering one square metre. Multiply your area in square metres by 25 for the tile count and add around 10% for cuts and wastage. Our Ascot team can help on 01344 620211.

Where can Designers Guild Shibori Stone be used?

Designers Guild Shibori Stone is hard-wearing porcelain suitable for interior and exterior walls and floors, including bathrooms, kitchens, wet rooms and swimming pools — a frost-resistant choice that works equally well indoors and out.

Does Designers Guild Shibori Stone need sealing?

No — porcelain is non-porous, so Designers Guild Shibori Stone never needs sealing. It's low-maintenance and easily cleaned with warm water and a mild detergent; only the grout lines may benefit from sealing.

Is Designers Guild Shibori Stone suitable for bathrooms and wet areas?

Yes — porcelain's very low water absorption makes Designers Guild Shibori Stone an excellent choice for bathrooms, showers and wet rooms and exterior use. For wet-area floors, check the slip rating in the specification or choose a textured finish where extra grip is needed.
