Timeless Grandeur: Berkeley Cathedral Oak

Bring the majesty and worn beauty of a historic landmark into your home with Berkeley Cathedral Oak—an engineered wood floor that captures the undulating character of centuries-old timber.

Part of the prestigious Berkeley collection, Cathedral Oak is designed to evoke the feeling of generations of footfall. Each plank is meticulously hand-scraped by artisans to create a surface that rises and falls beneath your feet, offering a tactile connection to the past. The colour palette is a rich, warming blend of honey, caramel, and cocoa hues, ensuring that while the texture is rugged, the overall look is inviting and sophisticated.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

How does "Cathedral Oak" differ from other Berkeley floors?

While all Berkeley floors are hand-scraped, Cathedral Oak is defined by its colour. It sits in the "warm" spectrum, featuring a mix of honey, caramel, and cocoa tones. It is generally warmer than the grey-washed "Charterhouse" and lighter than the scorched "Priory" oak.

Is the surface smooth or textured?

It is highly textured. The surface is hand-scraped to create undulations (waves) that mimic footfall wear over centuries. This gives the floor a unique, lived-in feel that is very different from a flat, machine-sanded floor.

What is the wear layer?

The floor boasts a 4mm solid oak wear layer on top of a 11mm engineered core. This provides the durability and appearance of solid oak with the structural stability of engineered wood.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes, Woodpecker Flooring provides an exceptional 100-year warranty on this product, ensuring your investment is protected for a lifetime.

Can I use this in a kitchen?

Yes, engineered oak is suitable for kitchens. The rustic, hand-scraped nature of Cathedral Oak is particularly forgiving of small dents or scratches that might occur in a busy kitchen environment.
