Verdant Mexican Pattern: Acapulco Merida 10 x 10cm

a lively, hand-painted 10 x 10cm ceramic threaded with fresh green geometry on a warm terracotta base — Acapulco Merida from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.

Acapulco Merida brings a cool green counterpoint to the range's warm terracotta body. Painted by hand, its pattern carries the subtle tonal movement and softened edges that mark out a genuinely hand-made tile.

Merida is made for splashbacks, shower walls, hearths and feature panels, and sits beautifully with the blue and yellow Acapulco decors. Its glazed face wipes clean easily and needs no sealing.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: Fix with a quality flexible adhesive over a sound, level background and choose a grout tone that flatters the decor — a soft neutral lets the pattern lead.
  • Layout Options: As a hand-made tile, shade and size vary from piece to piece. Shuffle tiles from several boxes and dry-lay a section first to enjoy the natural variation across the wall.
  • Cleaning: The glazed face needs no sealing — simply wipe with a mild cleaner. On a hearth, keep the tile at least 30cm from the direct heat source.

Tone, glaze and veining can read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free; sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and is refunded on tile orders over £50 using the code emailed with your sample order. Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

How would you describe the Merida pattern compared to others?

The Merida pattern is more densely packed and detailed than designs like Alva or Luna. It features a central floral element encased in a geometric frame, which creates a highly sophisticated "wallpaper" effect when used across a whole wall.

Can these be used as a border?

Absolutely. Because of the structured geometric edges in the Merida design, it works exceptionally well as a decorative horizontal or vertical border when paired with plain white or cream tiles.

Are they easy to clean?

Yes. The thick gloss glaze means that grease and water simply wipe off. For kitchen splashbacks, a soft cloth and mild detergent are all you need. Avoid abrasive sponges which can scratch any gloss glaze over time.

Can I see a sample or display?

We highly recommend visiting our Ascot showroom to see the Acapulco range in person. Hand-painted tiles have a tactile, 3D quality to the paint and a depth of glaze that photos cannot fully capture.
