Suitability & installation

Where can this tile be used?

Suitable for floors. It is also listed for outdoor use; confirm the substrate, drainage and fixing system for the exact project.

What is the material and finish?

Material: Ceramic. Finish: Matt. Natural variation, glaze and texture can look different under room lighting, so order a sample where available.

Can it be used with underfloor heating?

The current catalogue data lists this product as suitable with underfloor heating. The heating system, substrate, movement joints and adhesive still need to be specified correctly for the installation.

Is it suitable outside and is it frost resistant?

Outdoor/external use is included in the current catalogue data. A frost rating is not stated here; confirm it before specifying the tile for exposed external conditions.

Product story

Octagon And Dot, Held In Three Neutral Tones

Black, Grey and Dover White arranged as octagons with small contrasting dots, an even-tempered Victorian floor pattern that asks very little of the room around it from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.

The octagon and dot layout is the workhorse of the period floor. Large octagons cover ground quickly and calmly while the small square dots at each junction supply just enough incident to keep the grid from feeling mechanical.

Choosing Grey as the third tone rather than a colour is what gives this version its composure. There is nothing here to date the floor or to tie it to a particular decorating scheme, which makes it unusually easy to live with over a long period.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

To request a return, contact Hyperion within 14 days of delivery. For eligible online consumer cancellations, you have a further 14 days after telling us to send the goods back. Contact us for the correct return address; your statutory cancellation does not depend on our authorisation.

Additional supplier returns have their own eligibility rules, charges and exclusions. These do not override statutory cancellation rights or rights for faulty goods. See our refund policy and supplier return guidance before arranging a return.

Installation & Care Tips

Installation & care

  • Setting Out: Set the octagon grid to the main door opening so that a full tile greets anyone entering, and let the cut pieces fall at the perimeter.
  • Adhesive & Grout: Grout matched closely to the Grey makes the small dots read as intentional rather than as gaps. Flexible cement-based adhesive below.
  • Sealing & Cleaning: Seal once laid and dry, as with everything unglazed in the range, and use neutral cleaners to keep Dover White from going grey.
