A Chequer Stood On Its Point
The monochrome reading of Odyssey Grande's smallest harlequin, black diamonds over a chalk ground on 298mm porcelain, sold by the tile and laid by the metre underfoot, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.
Black and chalk is a long-running argument in patterned flooring and it has never really been settled. What the small harlequin adds is rhythm: several diamonds to each tile rather than one, which keeps the contrast lively without letting any single shape dominate. The effect is emphatic close up and surprisingly steady from a distance, which is why it works in a narrow hallway as readily as in an open kitchen.
Face dimensions are 298 x 298mm on an 8mm body — 0.0888m² of tile. Six pieces are supplied per box. The manufacturer quotes coverage at 11.11 tiles per square metre. Walls take it wet or dry. Floors take it dry, or wet with shoes on. Outside, both walls and paving are within specification, so a porch, a boot room and the path beyond can all be laid alike.

When your order arrives
Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.
Returns
To request a return, contact Hyperion within 14 days of delivery. For eligible online consumer cancellations, you have a further 14 days after telling us to send the goods back. Contact us for the correct return address; your statutory cancellation does not depend on our authorisation.

Installation & care
- Adhesive & Grout: Fix on white flexible adhesive. Grout in a mid grey: white multiplies the number of light shapes on the floor, and black borrows weight from the pattern itself.
- Layout: Because contrast is high, a drifting line shows immediately. Snap a chalk line, work outwards in both directions from it, and keep the cut tiles to the two least conspicuous edges of the room.
- Cleaning: A mild detergent in warm water is enough. Scouring pads scuff matt black more visibly than they scuff the pale side of the pattern, so the wear ends up uneven. The manufacturer advises a sealer to make cleaning easier — put it on ahead of grouting, and repeat the treatment once all grout residue is off the face.

Once an order has been placed, goods that are in stock can normally be dispatched within 3–5 working days. Delivery of special orders, slabs, large-format tiles, some bathware and sizeable orders is best carried out on one of our specialist off-load vehicles, so timescales will be advised before any tiles are ordered. A specific delivery date will be arranged to suit you.
