Product story

A Bold Marble Border: East Hampton Black Marble Dado Trim

A honed black marble dado moulding lit with pale veining, to cap and frame your tiling — East Hampton from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.

This dado is a trim piece — a sculpted black marble border designed to finish the top edge of a half-tiled wall or to draw a dramatic dado line. Cut from genuine black marble with white and grey veining, it delivers a crisp, high-contrast detail to bathrooms and hallways.

Sold individually, each length pairs with the East Hampton black field tiles and trims, or contrasts beautifully against the white marble. As a natural stone it is unique piece to piece, and being real marble it should be sealed on installation to guard against moisture and staining.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of a Dado tile?

A dado (or moulding) tile is used to create a finished edge or a decorative border. It is commonly used to cap off tiles that only go halfway up a wall, or to create a frame around a panel of different tiles.

Is this real stone?

Yes, this is genuine natural black marble. It matches the East Hampton Black floor and wall tiles perfectly, featuring the same authentic veining. It is not a ceramic imitation.

The name says "Polished" but the description says "Honed"?

While some suppliers may label it loosely, the East Hampton collection generally features a "Diamond Sawn Honed" finish, which is smooth and matte rather than highly reflective. This provides a more contemporary and sophisticated look than high-gloss marble.

Does it need sealing?

Yes. Natural marble is porous. Black marble is particularly prone to "etching" from acidic liquids. Sealing is mandatory to protect the finish and maintain the deep black colour.

Installation & Care Tips

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: Fix with a flexible natural-stone adhesive and a charcoal grout for a seamless look, or a paler shade to lift the veining.
  • Sealing & Care: Being real marble, seal before grouting and again once installed. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — never vinegar, bleach or acidic products, which will etch natural marble.
  • Layout: Measure the run and allow for mitred cuts at corners; dry-lay the pieces first to plan neat joints with the surrounding tiling.
PLAN IT ONCE. KEEP IT TOGETHER.
