A Slim Marble Edging: East Hampton Marble Pencil Trim

A fine honed white marble pencil to edge, frame and finish your tiling — East Hampton from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.

This pencil is a trim piece — a slender rounded marble edging that neatens the borders of a tiled panel, frames a niche or divides two finishes. Cut from genuine white marble with soft grey veining, it adds a quiet, tailored detail to bathrooms and cloakrooms.

Sold individually, each length co-ordinates with the East Hampton field tiles, dado, skirting and mosaics. As a natural stone it is unique piece to piece, and being real marble it should be sealed on installation to guard against moisture and staining.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What is a "Pencil" tile used for?

A pencil tile is a thin, rounded moulding used to create a neat finish. It covers the rough, unglazed edges of field tiles where they end on a wall (like halfway up, or around a window). It provides a smooth, professional transition.

Is this real stone?

Yes, this is genuine natural limestone. It matches the Palio floor and wall tiles perfectly, featuring the same authentic fossils and honing. It is not a ceramic imitation.

How do I cut it?

Natural marble pencil mouldings should be cut using a wet tile saw with a diamond blade. For corners, they should be "mitred" (cut at 45 degrees) to create a sharp, neat right angle.

Does it need sealing?

Yes. Natural marble is porous. To prevent absorption of water, oils, and dirt, it must be sealed. We recommend sealing once before grouting and once after grouting for maximum protection.

Why buy from Hyperion Tiles?

We are a family-run business with years of experience in natural stone. We can guide you through the specific installation requirements—such as choosing the right white adhesive and grout—to ensure your marble installation remains beautiful for decades.

Installation & Care Tips

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: Fix with a white, flexible natural-stone adhesive and a matching pale grout for a seamless transition to the field tiles.
  • Sealing & Care: Being real marble, seal before grouting and again once installed. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner only — never vinegar, bleach or acidic products, which will etch natural marble.
  • Layout: Measure the run and allow for mitred cuts at corners; dry-lay the pieces first to plan neat joints with the surrounding tiling.
PLAN IT ONCE. KEEP IT TOGETHER.
