Description

The Perfect Finish: East Hampton Marble Dado

Add a touch of architectural sophistication to your walls with the East Hampton Marble Dado—a solid stone moulding designed to cap off your tiling with effortless elegance.

Crafted from the same dense **natural marble** as the East Hampton tiles, this dado rail features the collection's signature **cool grey veining** on a soft white background. Sized at **30.5cm in length**, it aligns perfectly with the standard East Hampton tile widths, ensuring a clean, continuous line. Whether used to finish a half-tiled bathroom wall (wainscoting) or to frame a feature panel, its **honed finish** and subtle profile provide a luxurious, tactile transition between stone and paint.

Design Inspiration

🛁 Classic Wainscoting

Finish a half-tiled wall with this stone rail. It creates a defined ledge that separates the marble below from the paint or wallpaper above. Shop bathroom tiles.

🍳 Framed Splashbacks

Use the dado to create a border around a range cooker splashback. It frames a mosaic panel (like the Herringbone or Basketweave) beautifully. View kitchen tiles.

📐 Seamless Alignment

The 30.5cm length matches the width of East Hampton wall tiles perfectly. Install them aligned with your vertical grout lines for a neat finish. Browse wall tiles.

⚠️ Installation & Care Tips

  • Weight & Support: As this is a solid stone moulding (2.6cm thick), it is heavier than standard tiles. Ensure it is well-supported with spacers or batons until the adhesive sets to prevent slipping.
  • Sealing is Essential: Like all East Hampton marble, the dado is porous. It must be sealed to protect against staining. We recommend sealing it before installation and again after grouting.
  • Mitred Corners: For external corners, the stone will need to be mitre-cut at 45 degrees. A high-quality wet cutter is essential for a clean, professional finish.
  • Use White Adhesive: Always use a White flexible tile adhesive to prevent shadowing through the pale stone.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of a Dado tile?

A dado (or moulding) tile is used to create a finished edge. It is commonly used to cap off tiles that only go halfway up a wall (wainscoting), or to create a decorative frame around a panel of different tiles, such as a mosaic.

Is this real stone?

Yes, this is genuine natural limestone. It matches the Palio floor and wall tiles perfectly, featuring the same authentic fossils and honing. It is not a ceramic imitation.

How do I go around corners?

As there are no specific "corner pieces" for this moulding, external corners should be "mitred" (cut at a 45-degree angle) by your tiler. This creates a neat, continuous join where the two pieces meet at the corner.

Does it need sealing?

Yes. Natural marble is porous. To prevent absorption of water, oils, and dirt, it must be sealed. We recommend sealing once before grouting and once after grouting for maximum protection.

Why buy Fired Earth tiles from Hyperion Tiles?

We are an authorised Fired Earth retailer with a family-run approach. This means you get the same premium products but with faster, personal technical support, expert advice on sealers and adhesives, and free delivery on orders over £300.
