Wood Without Compromise: Lyndhurst Chestnut Plank Wood Effect Porcelain Tile 19.8 x 119.8cm

A long, generous 19.8 x 119.8cm porcelain plank in warm chestnut brown, carrying the grain, knots and tonal shifts of real timber – Lyndhurst from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.

Lyndhurst was drawn from genuine boards, and it shows. Textured grain runs the full length of every plank, knots fall where nature would have placed them, and the tone shifts gently from tile to tile, so a finished floor reads with the depth and quiet irregularity of a timber one. Chestnut is the warmer of the two colourways – an earthy mid-brown that settles a room instantly and sits beautifully against cream plaster, aged brass and natural linen.

Because this is porcelain rather than wood, Lyndhurst goes where timber simply cannot. Run it across a kitchen, through a hallway and into a shower enclosure without changing material, lay it over underfloor heating, and mop it clean at the end of a long week. No sealing, no sanding, no swelling – just the look of a beautiful board floor that behaves like tile.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Setting Out: Lyndhurst carries significant shade and grain variation by design. Dry-lay from several boxes at once, and stagger the plank joints by no more than a third rather than a half bond – long-format planks sit flatter and read more naturally that way.
  • Adhesive & Grout: Fix with a flexible adhesive suited to large-format porcelain, back-buttering to achieve a solid bed beneath the full length of each plank. Allow a 3mm grout joint and choose a tonal grout that recedes into the timber colour.
  • Cleaning: No sealing required. Sweep or vacuum, then mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid waxes, oils and polishes intended for real wood, which leave a film on a matt porcelain surface.
Samples

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Are Lyndhurst tiles made of real wood?

No. Lyndhurst is a glazed porcelain tile that reproduces the grain, knots and tonal variation of real timber. You get the look of a board floor with the durability and water resistance of porcelain, so it can be laid in bathrooms and wet rooms and over underfloor heating, where solid wood cannot go.

Which Lyndhurst format should I choose?

All three formats share the same Chestnut and Walnut colourways, so you can mix them freely. The 19.8 x 119.8cm plank gives the calmest, most timber-like floor and suits open-plan rooms. The 10 x 70cm herringbone throws a long, elegant zigzag that works beautifully in hallways and kitchens. The 5.3 x 30cm parquet is scaled for intricate patterns such as basketweave and Versailles panels, and makes an excellent border around a plank floor.

Can Lyndhurst be used in bathrooms, wet rooms and over underfloor heating?

Yes. Fired Earth specifies Lyndhurst for internal walls and floors, kitchens, bathrooms, shower walls, wet room floors, worktops, and hearths at least 30cm from the heat source, and it is approved for use over underfloor heating. It is an interior tile only, as Fired Earth publishes no external frost rating for this range.

Do Lyndhurst tiles need sealing?

No. Lyndhurst is glazed porcelain, so the surface is already impervious and needs no sealer. Sweep or vacuum, then mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid the waxes, oils and polishes made for real wood, which leave a film on a matt porcelain surface. In heavy-traffic areas a grout protector on cementitious grout is worth considering.

Can I order a Lyndhurst sample before I decide?

Yes. As an official Fired Earth stockist we offer free cut samples of Lyndhurst. Collect one from our Ascot showroom at 67 High Street, or we can post it to you for a small postage charge. Lyndhurst carries significant shade variation by design, so we always recommend seeing a piece in your own light first.
