The Coolest Reading Of A Black And White Hall Floor
Chesterfield sets black against Dover White, a softer and slightly creamier white than a bright modern one, for a period floor with warmth in its pale tones. Order both colours from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.
Dover White is what separates this from a stark monochrome. It carries a faint warmth that keeps black from turning severe, and in a north-facing hall that small shift is the difference between a floor that feels handsome and one that feels cold.
Both colours run through the body of the tile, a vitrified ceramic at 9mm with a matt face. That construction is why an unglazed Victorian floor takes decades of boots and still reads as itself, and why it can be laid outside a front door as confidently as inside it.

When your order arrives

Returns
To request a return, contact Hyperion within 14 days of delivery. For eligible online consumer cancellations, you have a further 14 days after telling us to send the goods back. Contact us for the correct return address; your statutory cancellation does not depend on our authorisation.

Installation & care
- Setting Out: Find the centre line of the hall rather than the centre of the room, and set the black and Dover White out from there so the pattern reads straight from the door.
- Adhesive & Grout: A flexible cement-based adhesive over a flat, dry base, and a mid-tone grout that neither disappears into the white nor outlines every tile.
- Sealing & Cleaning: Unglazed tiles want sealing once the floor is laid and dry. Sweep grit away regularly and wash with something pH-neutral.

Once an order has been placed, goods that are in stock can normally be dispatched within 3–5 working days. Delivery of special orders, slabs, large-format tiles, some bathware and sizeable orders is best carried out on one of our specialist off-load vehicles, so timescales will be advised before any tiles are ordered. A specific delivery date will be arranged to suit you.
