Product story

A Deep, Painterly Blue: Capri Ocean 10 x 10cm

A hand-painted deep-blue ceramic tile inspired by the waters around Capri — Capri Ocean from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.

Ocean is the richest shade in the Capri family — a deep, saturated blue with an almost washed, painterly finish. Painted by hand across each 10 x 10cm square, it carries moderate variation and soft brushstroke movement, so a wall of Ocean has genuine depth and life rather than a flat, uniform colour.

A glazed ceramic tile for interior walls, it makes a confident statement behind a basin, along a splashback or around a fireplace. Pair it with the paler Capri shades for a graduated seascape, or with the Cordoba range.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: Fix with a quality flexible tile adhesive. A crisp white or soft grey grout makes the deep blue sing.
  • Layout Options: Shuffle tiles from several boxes as you work to enjoy the natural variation, and lay to a neat 2mm joint. Grade from Ocean through the paler Capri shades for a tonal wash.
  • Cleaning: Wipe with warm water and a mild cleaner. The glaze needs no sealing; simply avoid abrasive pads that could dull the hand-painted surface.
Samples

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

What colour is Capri Ocean?

Capri Ocean is a rich, deep blue shade. It is significantly darker and more dramatic than the "Lagoon" (sky blue) option, offering a bold, saturated colour with a washed, hand-painted finish.

Do I need to seal these tiles?

No. Unlike many hand-painted or crackle-glaze tiles, Fired Earth Capri tiles are glazed and do not require sealing. This makes them much easier to install and maintain.

Are they suitable for shower walls?

Yes, absolutely. They are glazed and water-resistant, making them a beautiful choice for shower enclosures and bathroom splashbacks. They are not suitable for floors.

Why is there colour variation?

These tiles are hand painted. The "washed" effect is created by brush application, meaning some tiles will be slightly lighter or deeper in tone than others. This variation creates a rich, textured surface that looks bespoke rather than mass-produced.

What grout colour works best?

We recommend a white or light grey grout. This provides a crisp contrast against the deep blue tile, highlighting the grid pattern and making the colour pop.
