No. The Carnival collection is specifically designed and engineered exclusively for interior wall applications. The ceramic body and delicate crackle glaze finish do not possess the structural thickness, durability, or slip resistance required to safely withstand foot traffic on residential floors.

Do these crackle glaze tiles require sealing?

Yes. Because the Carnival tiles feature intentional 'crazing' (fine cracks in the top glaze), they must be thoroughly sealed with a crackle glaze sealer before grouting, and ideally once again after. This prevents grout pigments and everyday moisture from penetrating the cracks and discolouring the tile.

Can I use the Carnival collection in a shower enclosure?

Yes, but with care. They are suitable for shower walls and wet areas, provided they have been meticulously sealed and are installed with a highly water-resistant adhesive and grout. You must maintain the sealant layer over time to ensure water does not penetrate the crackle glaze in high-splash zones.

What does 'variable crazing' mean?

Variable crazing means that the delicate, fine cracking effect within the glaze will differ from tile to tile. Some tiles may have a dense network of fine cracks, while others may have very few. You must seal these tiles with a high-quality crackle glaze protector or impregnating sealer before grouting to prevent the grout pigment from staining the delicate crazing. A 3mm grout joint is recommended. For ongoing maintenance, simply wipe the surface down regularly with a soft cloth and a mild, pH-neutral cleaner.
