Carnival Wall Tiles

Spanish & Mexican Café Inspiration

The Fired Earth Carnival collection is specifically designed for those who wish to infuse their home with the joyful, relaxed atmosphere of warmer climes. Drawing deep inspiration from the traditional bars and eateries of Spain and Mexico, these tiles offer an immediate sense of vibrant escapism. The rich, mouth-watering colours provide a deeply artisanal aesthetic that brings your walls to life with energy, warmth, and organic movement.

Undulating Handmade Character

While the Carnival collection is efficiently machine-made for durability and consistency, it brilliantly mimics the charming imperfections of authentic handmade tiles. You will notice deliberately rippled edges and undulating surface contours that softly bounce light around the room. This highly textured finish removes the harsh, clinical lines of standard modern tiles, ensuring your finished wall looks wonderfully bespoke and beautifully lived-in.

Crackle Glaze Beauty

One of the defining features of the Carnival collection is its stunning, vintage-inspired surface. The tiles feature a specialized glazed finish that is prone to 'variable crazing'—delicate, intentional hairline cracks within the glaze itself. This crackle effect adds incredible historic depth and character to your installation. Because of this crazing, the tiles must be properly sealed before grouting to protect the delicate glaze from absorbing moisture and stains.

Installation & Care Tips

To achieve the best possible finish with your crackle glaze tiles, we strongly recommend unpacking and blending tiles from multiple boxes prior to fixing. You must seal these tiles with a high-quality crackle glaze protector or impregnating sealer before grouting to prevent the grout pigment from staining the delicate crazing. A 3mm grout joint is recommended. For ongoing maintenance, simply wipe the surface down regularly with a soft cloth and a mild, pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid harsh bleach or abrasive chemicals that can damage the delicate crackle glaze.
