100 x 100cm Porcelain Tiles

Our 100 x 100cm porcelain tiles — a full metre square, and often listed as 1m x 1m — give a floor or wall the calmest finish large-format porcelain can achieve. At this size a typical kitchen floor needs only a handful of tiles, so there are far fewer grout lines to interrupt the surface or to clean, and the room reads as noticeably larger and more continuous.

The range covers polished and matt finishes in marble-effect, concrete-effect and plain colourways, across the Manhattan, Newark, Rapolano, Tribeca, Trevi, Lyon, Nilo, Támesis, Tivoli, Sochi and Venecia series. All are suitable for walls and floors and compatible with underfloor heating.

A word on laying: tiles this large need a genuinely flat, well-prepared substrate and the right adhesive — a floor that would carry 60 x 60cm without complaint may need levelling first at a metre square. They are also heavy and awkward to handle, so most installers work in pairs. Our Ascot team can talk through substrate, adhesive and cutting before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are porcelain tiles suitable for floors and high-traffic areas?

Yes — porcelain is one of the hardest-wearing tile materials available. Fired at very high temperatures, it's dense, durable and highly resistant to scratches, wear and moisture, which makes it ideal for hallways, kitchens, bathrooms and other busy spaces. Many porcelain tiles are rated for both walls and floors, so you can carry a single look right through a room; check the individual product details to confirm the rating for your project.

Do porcelain tiles need sealing?

As a rule, no. Porcelain is non-porous, so unlike natural stone it doesn't need sealing to protect the surface, and it resists staining and water beautifully. The exception is the grout joints, which can still benefit from a grout protector to keep them looking fresh. Polished porcelain occasionally benefits from a surface treatment, and we'll advise if that applies to your chosen range.

Can porcelain tiles be used outdoors?

Many can. Porcelain is frost-resistant and dimensionally stable, and a number of ranges are available in textured, anti-slip finishes or 20mm paver formats designed for patios and garden paths. Not every tile is suitable for exterior use, though, so always check the product details or ask our Ascot team before specifying a porcelain tile for outdoors.

What does 'rectified' mean, and how big are the grout lines?

Rectified tiles have been precision-cut after firing so every edge is perfectly straight and square. This allows them to be laid with very fine, consistent grout joints for a clean, contemporary look, which is particularly striking with large-format tiles. Whatever the format, we always recommend a small grout gap rather than butt-jointing, to allow for natural movement.

Are large-format porcelain tiles difficult to lay?

Large-format porcelain rewards careful preparation. The substrate needs to be flat and solid, a suitable flexible adhesive should be applied using the back-buttering method for full coverage, and the right tools make all the difference. Because the panels are heavy and need clean, accurate cuts, we'd recommend an experienced tiler for the best and safest result.

Can I order a sample before I commit?

Yes — colour, finish and the way a tile reads in your own light are best judged at home. We offer free cut samples to collect from our Ascot showroom, or posted for a small postage charge, and you're very welcome to visit the showroom to see full tiles in person and talk your project through with our team.

Our Range of 1 Meter by 1 Metre Tiles

Our selection of 1m x 1m tiles is perfect for tiling large open spaces or smaller areas. And with a variety of hues and patterns to choose from, you’ll find your ideal tile in no time.

Here’s what you can expect from our collection of large-format porcelain floor and wall tiles.

Colours to Maximise Any Area

We offer a vast selection of 1,000mm x 1,000mm tiles in exciting, versatile colours.

Upgrade living areas with large porcelain tile designs to enhance an open-plan minimalist environment. Large porcelain wall tiles in rich shades like smokey grey can project inviting living spaces, and installing them in an opus pattern makes an eye-catching statement.

Lighter hues like neutral whites or warm-toned beige can help enhance the look and feel of smaller rooms as they reflect light and brighten the room.

Versatile Effects

Large-format tiles don’t just offer simplified applications. This collection also comprises innovative patterns and finishes to tie your project together or create eye-catching walls and flooring. Here are some of the effects you’ll find in our 1m x 1m tile range.

  • Marbling: These large-format pieces combine the timeless veining design of marble with the durability of porcelain, creating the perfect piece for adding elegance to high-traffic areas. Choosing glossed porcelain hallway tiles with a marble effect will instantaneously boost the luxury of that area.
  • Natural: You can achieve a clean, grounded bathroom aesthetic with natural finish porcelain bathroom tiles. A porcelain bathroom tile is ideal for wetrooms as it is dense and has a low water absorption rate. So, choosing these 1,000 mm slabs is not only stylish but also very practical.
  • Speckled: Build your dream kitchen, starting with 1m x 1m square tiles with a spotted or terrazzo pattern. These durable porcelain kitchen tiles are perfect for eye-catching countertops and innovative designs.

Enhance Multiple Spaces

With these porcelain large-format tiles, you can transform any room into something special. A porcelain tile is a versatile choice for your wall or floor. Large 1,000mm x 1,000mm slabs work well in smaller bedrooms, making rooms look larger because of their seamless continuity.

Our porcelain large-format tiles are incredibly durable and ideal for high-traffic areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. Additionally, you can opt for timeless large-format porcelain floor tiles to update outdated shopping centre flooring. These products offer a variety of finishes and innovative styles that’ll allow you to create floors that can withstand heavy foot traffic, look on-trend, and make your guests feel welcome. As a bonus, porcelain tiles are a good option for underfloor heating.
