Light, Water, Clarity: Zambezi Clear Glass 200 x 98mm Wall Tile

Part of the Glassworks clear glass collection, brought to you by Hyperion Tiles.

The Zambezi Clear Glass 200 x 98mm Wall Tile distils the untamed brilliance of Africa's mighty Zambezi into a clean rectangle of clear glass. At 200 x 98mm (20 x 9.8cm), it lays up into a bright, seamless-looking wall that carries light beautifully and lends real depth to a scheme.

Non-porous, hygienic and simple to wipe clean, it is perfectly suited to kitchen splashbacks, shower enclosures, bathroom walls and other wet areas — a crisp, contemporary surface that looks as good over a coloured wall (which lends a soft tint) as it does over white.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Adhesive — always use a WHITE glass tile adhesive; translucent clear glass shows a grey or dark adhesive straight through, so white keeps it bright.
  • Where to use — non-porous and wipe-clean, it is ideal for kitchen splashbacks, shower and bathroom walls and other wet areas.
  • Cutting & edges — score and snap with a glass cutter (a standard wet saw tends to chip the edge); take care with cut and exposed edges and finish them neatly at external corners.
  • Cleaning — no sealing needed; wipe with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive glass cleaner.
Delivery And Returns

Try it before you commit

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Are these glass tiles suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes, this is exactly what they are made for. Glass is completely non-porous, so it will not absorb water, cooking grease or staining, and it does not provide anything for mould to grow into.

That makes it a strong choice for kitchen splashbacks, bathroom walls, shower enclosures and cloakrooms. The reflective surface also bounces light around, which is genuinely useful in a small or north-facing room.

What adhesive and grout should I use?

Use a white, flexible, cement-based adhesive rated for glass. This matters more with glass than with any other material: grey adhesive shows through the tile and turns a clear or pale glass muddy.

Pair it with a white or colour-matched flexible grout, and use a waterproof or epoxy grout inside a shower. Order your adhesive and grout with your tiles and we will check the combination suits the specific tile.

Can glass wall tiles be used on the floor?

As a rule, no. These are wall tiles — a smooth glass surface is slippery underfoot and is not rated for foot traffic or point loads.

Where a product in our range is also suitable for floors, it says so on the product page. If you want glass at floor level, a glass mosaic sheet is the safer option because the grout joints provide grip. Ask us and we will tell you straight.

How do I keep glass tiles looking good?

Warm water and a soft cloth or a standard non-abrasive glass cleaner is all that is needed. Buff dry afterwards to avoid water spotting, particularly in a hard water area.

Avoid abrasive pads and scouring creams, which will dull the surface. Keep aggressive limescale removers off the grout joints, and re-seal cement grout periodically if you want the joints to stay crisp.

How many tiles of this size do I need per square metre?

At 200 x 98 x 6mm, each tile covers roughly 0.0196m², which works out at about 51.02 tiles per square metre.

To work out your order: multiply the height by the width of each area you are tiling to get the total square metres, multiply that figure by 51.02, then round up to the nearest full tile. Add 10% on top for cuts and breakages, or around 15% for a herringbone or diagonal layout.

If you would rather not do the sums, send us the dimensions of your space and we will confirm the quantity — and if you are close to a box quantity we will tell you, as it is often cheaper to take the full box. Free cut samples are available, and you are welcome to see the range in our Ascot showroom.
