Light Along Every Joint: Artworks Vintage White Metro Bevelled 150 x 75mm

The chamfered brick that has defined station walls and city kitchens since 1903, here in a warm creamy white — the Artworks Vintage White Metro Bevelled tile, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.

The bevel is the whole point. Each tile is chamfered around its face so that light catches the edge and throws a soft shadow into the joint, giving a plain wall a depth and sparkle no flat tile can reproduce. In Vintage White that shadow reads warmer and gentler than it would on a cold white — closer to an original Edwardian wall than a reproduction of one.

At a substantial 10mm thick, this is a tile with weight and quality in the hand. Run it in a traditional half-bond behind a range, stack it vertically for something crisper, or carry it floor to ceiling in a shower and finish the top edge with an Artworks moulding.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

To request a return, contact Hyperion within 14 days of delivery. For eligible online consumer cancellations, you have a further 14 days after telling us to send the goods back. Contact us for the correct return address; your statutory cancellation does not depend on our authorisation.

How many Metro Bevelled tiles are in a box and what will they cover?

Each box contains 38 tiles and covers 0.44m², at 86 tiles per square metre. Measure your wall area, add about 10% for cuts, then divide by 0.44 for the number of boxes.

What does the bevelled edge actually add?

The chamfered edge catches the light along every joint, giving the wall depth and a soft shadow line that a flat tile cannot achieve. It is the detail that makes a white wall look considered rather than plain, and the reason bevelled metro has held its place since the Paris Métro adopted the style in 1903.

Can Artworks Brilliant White tiles be used in a shower or wet room?

Yes. Artworks is specified for both wet and dry wall areas, so it is at home in a shower enclosure, a wet room or around a bath. The background must be sound, dry and properly tanked, and a flexible waterproof adhesive and grout should be used throughout the wet zone.

What adhesive and grout do you recommend for Artworks ceramic tiles?

Always use a white flexible tile adhesive — a grey adhesive can shadow through a white glaze and dull it. Allow a 2-3mm joint and choose a white grout for a seamless, luminous wall, or a soft grey to draw the eye to the layout.

How much extra should I order for cuts and wastage?

As a guide, add around 10% to your measured area for cuts and breakages, and nearer 15% for a herringbone, diagonal or brick-bond layout. It is also worth keeping a few spare tiles from the same batch in case a repair is ever needed.

Installation & care

Adhesive & Grout: Use a white flexible adhesive. Grout colour matters more with a bevel than a flat tile — a warm off-white keeps the wall mellow, while a soft putty grey deepens the shadow line and makes the pattern graphic.
Layout: Allow a 2-3mm joint. Because the bevel widens the visual joint, keep spacing consistent and check each course with a level; the shadow lines will show any drift.
Cleaning: No sealing required. Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent, taking a moment to clean along the bevel where splashes can collect.
