Long, Linear Light: Thames Clear Glass 398 x 80mm

Draw the eye along the wall with the slim Thames Clear Glass 398 x 80mm tile from Hyperion Tiles.

This elongated 398 x 80mm clear glass tile is made for streamlined, contemporary schemes. Its transparent, light-catching surface brings a bright, linear finish to splashbacks and feature walls, run horizontally to widen a room or stacked for striking height.

Crafted from durable, non-porous glass, it is hygienic, hard-wearing and easy to wipe clean. Rated for internal wet and dry walls, it keeps its flawless clarity across kitchen, shower and wet-room walls.

The Hyperion Family Promise

  • Design Continuity - The Thames range spans squares, planks, large formats and splashbacks for one seamless clear-glass look.
  • Premium Durability - Non-porous, colour-stable glass that stays crystal clear and wipes clean in the busiest rooms.
  • Order a Sample - Free to collect from our Ascot showroom, or posted to you for a small postage charge.
  • Dedicated Delivery - Free UK delivery on orders over £1,000.
  • Personalised Project Support - Sold by the tile, with approximately 31 tiles per m²; our family team can help you calculate quantities and plan your layout.

⚠ Installation & Care Tips

  • Use a White Adhesive: Clear glass is translucent, so grey or standard adhesive will show through. Always fix with a bright white, flexible glass-rated adhesive, spread evenly to avoid trowel marks.
  • Ideal for Wet Areas: Non-porous and wipe-clean — perfect for kitchen splashbacks, shower enclosures and bathroom walls.
  • Handle Cut Edges with Care: Score and snap with a glass cutter for a clean edge; take care with cut and exposed edges during handling and fixing.
  • Cleaning: Warm water, a soft cloth and standard glass cleaner keep it gleaming; avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemicals. No sealing required.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Are these glass tiles suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes, this is exactly what they are made for. Glass is completely non-porous, so it will not absorb water, cooking grease or staining, and it does not provide anything for mould to grow into.

That makes it a strong choice for kitchen splashbacks, bathroom walls, shower enclosures and cloakrooms. The reflective surface also bounces light around, which is genuinely useful in a small or north-facing room.

What adhesive and grout should I use?

Use a white, flexible, cement-based adhesive rated for glass. This matters more with glass than with any other material: grey adhesive shows through the tile and turns a clear or pale glass muddy.

Pair it with a white or colour-matched flexible grout, and use a waterproof or epoxy grout inside a shower. Order your adhesive and grout with your tiles and we will check the combination suits the specific tile.

Can glass wall tiles be used on the floor?

As a rule, no. These are wall tiles — a smooth glass surface is slippery underfoot and is not rated for foot traffic or point loads.

Where a product in our range is also suitable for floors, it says so on the product page. If you want glass at floor level, a glass mosaic sheet is the safer option because the grout joints provide grip. Ask us and we will tell you straight.

How do I keep glass tiles looking good?

Warm water and a soft cloth or a standard non-abrasive glass cleaner is all that is needed. Buff dry afterwards to avoid water spotting, particularly in a hard water area.

Avoid abrasive pads and scouring creams, which will dull the surface. Keep aggressive limescale removers off the grout joints, and re-seal cement grout periodically if you want the joints to stay crisp.

How many tiles of this size do I need per square metre?

At 398 x 80 x 6mm, each tile covers roughly 0.0318m², which works out at about 31.45 tiles per square metre.

To work out your order: multiply the height by the width of each area you are tiling to get the total square metres, multiply that figure by 31.45, then round up to the nearest full tile. Add 10% on top for cuts and breakages, or around 15% for a herringbone or diagonal layout.

If you would rather not do the sums, send us the dimensions of your space and we will confirm the quantity — and if you are close to a box quantity we will tell you, as it is often cheaper to take the full box. Free cut samples are available, and you are welcome to see the range in our Ascot showroom.
