Warm & Rustic: Terracotta Cotto 7.5 x 30cm

Capture the timeless warmth of a Mediterranean floor with the Terracotta Cotto 7.5 x 30cm porcelain tile from Hyperion Tiles.

Terracotta Cotto carries the deep, russet-brown glow of traditional fired clay, complete with the gentle tonal shifts and soft imperfections that give real terracotta its soul. Laid across a kitchen floor or run up a hearth wall, it brings instant warmth and a lived-in, unhurried character.

The difference is that this is glazed porcelain, made in Spain by Manufactura Industrial Azulejera. It gives you the look of aged terracotta with none of the sealing, staining or fragility, and its F4 heavy-domestic wear rating and R10 slip resistance make it genuinely practical underfoot. Frostproof, it carries the same warmth out onto sheltered external walls.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: Use a high-quality flexible adhesive and grout suitable for porcelain. A warm buff or grey grout flatters the clay tones without competing with them.
  • Layout Options: The traditional 7.5 x 30cm brick format is wonderfully versatile — lay it in a classic brick bond, a herringbone for a richer, more traditional floor, or a vertical stack for a contemporary twist.
  • Cleaning: Sweep and clean with warm water and a mild floor cleaner. Unlike genuine terracotta, this glazed porcelain needs no sealing and will not stain.
Samples

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate how many Terracotta Cotto tiles I need?

Terracotta Cotto is sold by the pack, with each pack containing 22 tiles and covering 0.5m² (44 tiles per m²). Measure your total area in square metres, add 10% for cuts and wastage, then divide by 0.5 and round up to find the number of packs. Allow a little extra if you are laying herringbone. Our friendly team is always happy to check your quantities on 01344 620211.

Where can I use Terracotta Cotto?

Terracotta Cotto is a frostproof glazed porcelain suitable for internal walls and floors, as well as external walls. With an F4 heavy domestic floor wear rating and R10 slip resistance it is well suited to kitchens, hallways, boot rooms and living spaces, and it is compatible with underfloor heating. Please note it is rated for external walls, not external floors.

Does Terracotta need sealing like real terracotta?

No. Although it recreates the look of traditional fired clay, this is glazed porcelain, so it requires no sealing and will not stain or absorb water. Simply sweep and clean with warm water and a mild floor cleaner. It carries a V2 slight shade variation, which gives the range its authentic, gently varied character.

Can I order a sample of Terracotta Cotto?

Yes. We offer a free 7.5 x 15cm cut sample so you can see the clay tones and matt finish in your own light before you commit. Samples are free to collect from our Ascot showroom, or posted to your door for a small postage charge.
