Vibrant Zest, Larger Format: Retro Metro Lime House 10 x 30cm

A fresh, citrus-green metro tile in a generous 10 x 30cm brick with a vintage crackle glaze — Retro Metro Lime House from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.

Named Retro for its vintage style and Metro for its iconic subway shape, this larger 10 x 30cm brick brings the energising Lime House green to walls at a bolder scale, with fewer grout lines for a cleaner, contemporary run. The crackle glaze (crazing) adds handcrafted depth, so every tile carries its own character.

Ideal for a classic horizontal brick-bond splashback or a striking vertical stack. As a glazed ceramic wall tile it is for interior walls; we recommend sealing the crackle glaze before grouting.

Installation & care

Installation & care

  • Adhesive & Grout: Fix to interior walls with a flexible adhesive suitable for glazed ceramic, using a fine 2–3mm joint.
  • Sealing: Seal the crackle glaze before grouting to stop grout pigment settling into the crazing, then seal again afterwards for a watertight finish.
  • Cleaning: Wipe clean with warm water and a soft cloth; avoid abrasive pads. Test dark grout on a spare tile first, as it can emphasise the crazing.
Samples

Tone, glaze and veining all read differently in your own light. Cut samples are free — sample postage is £4.99 (£8 for Original Style) and we refund it on tile orders over £50 with the code we email you. Our family-run team is happy to check quantities and finishes with you on 01344 620211.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

Unused, complete orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery; as tiles are picked and packed to your quantity, a restocking fee of 20–30% applies depending on the range. Fired Earth ranges are returned through Fired Earth’s own returns process, and special-order items are non-returnable unless damaged on delivery or faulty. Ordering a free sample first is the simplest way to avoid a return.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

How many tiles do I need?

The Retro Metro Lime House tiles are sold individually, requiring 33 tiles to cover 1m². To ensure you have enough for cuts, wastage, and specific laying patterns (such as herringbone or brick bond), we recommend ordering an additional 10% on top of your room measurements.

Can this tile be used as a kitchen splashback or in a shower?

Yes. These vintage-inspired glazed ceramic wall tiles are highly suited for use on bathroom walls, shower enclosures, and as beautiful kitchen splashbacks. They are also suitable for use around hearths and fireplaces (provided they are at least 30cm from the direct heat source).

Do these tiles need to be sealed

Yes. Because these tiles feature a distinctive crackle glaze (which is prone to variable crazing), tile sealing is strictly required before grouting to protect the delicate surface from moisture and staining in kitchens and wet areas.
