Suitability & installation

Where can this tile be used?

Suitable for floors. It is also listed for outdoor use; confirm the substrate, drainage and fixing system for the exact project.

What is the material and finish?

Material: Ceramic. Finish: Matt. Natural variation, glaze and texture can look different under room lighting, so order a sample where available.

Can it be used with underfloor heating?

The current catalogue data lists this product as suitable with underfloor heating. The heating system, substrate, movement joints and adhesive still need to be specified correctly for the installation.

Is it suitable outside and is it frost resistant?

Outdoor/external use is included in the current catalogue data. A frost rating is not stated here; confirm it before specifying the tile for exposed external conditions.

Product story

Red And Black Squares Laid On The Turn

Oxford in red and black sets two strong colours against each other at 106mm, a chequer small enough to keep a narrow hall lively, ordered from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.

Red is the warmer half of this pairing and it does the work. Against black it reads deep and slightly earthen rather than bright, which is why the combination suits a period hall far better than a printed imitation of it ever manages.

The 106mm square is the reason the floor feels busy in the right way: more joints, more rhythm, more repetitions of the red across a given run. Colour is fired through the body of each tile, so the squares hold their tone under the traffic an entrance takes.

Delivery

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

To request a return, contact Hyperion within 14 days of delivery. For eligible online consumer cancellations, you have a further 14 days after telling us to send the goods back. Contact us for the correct return address; your statutory cancellation does not depend on our authorisation.

Additional supplier returns have their own eligibility rules, charges and exclusions. These do not override statutory cancellation rights or rights for faulty goods. See our refund policy and supplier return guidance before arranging a return.

Installation & Care Tips

Installation & care

  • Setting Out: Find the centre line of the room and work the chequer outwards from there, so cut tiles land evenly at both walls.
  • Adhesive & Grout: Fix onto a sound, level bed using flexible adhesive, and pick a grout of middling tone that favours neither colour.
  • Sealing & Cleaning: Left unsealed an unglazed floor will absorb; seal it once laid and dry, then wash with something pH-neutral and never acidic.
PLAN IT ONCE. KEEP IT TOGETHER.
