A Portuguese Statement Floor: Milan Lauro Porcelain Tile

Milan Lauro, a full-bodied blue porcelain with the character of a classic Portuguese design from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.

Lauro is the deepest of the Milan blues, its rich pigment running through the full thickness of the tile for a saturated, characterful finish.

Use it to ground an open-plan kitchen or wrap a wet room — the through-body porcelain shrugs off wear, water and frost wherever it is laid.

In-stock orders are dispatched within 3–5 working days, with express options available. Special-order and made-to-order ranges carry their own lead time, shown on the product page and confirmed when you order. Pallet, slab, large-format and bathware orders travel on a specialist off-load service — we confirm the timescale and book a date that suits you before dispatch.

Delivery is calculated at checkout from your order and postcode (we do not offer showroom collection) and UK delivery is free on orders over £1,000 on most ranges. For pallet deliveries please tell us about access issues in advance — low trees or bridges, narrow roads or gateways, gravel drives, or no turning or unloading space — as a re-delivery charge may apply if we cannot complete delivery.

When your order arrives

Please check your delivery as soon as it arrives. Once goods are unloaded they become the responsibility of the receiver, so if anything isn’t right, contact us within three working days and we’ll put it right quickly.

Returns

To request a return, contact Hyperion within 14 days of delivery. For eligible online consumer cancellations, you have a further 14 days after telling us to send the goods back. Contact us for the correct return address; your statutory cancellation does not depend on our authorisation.

How dark is "Lauro" Blue?

Lauro is a rich, dramatic blue, distinct from the lighter "Bossi" and the mid-tone "Gorani". It provides a bold colour statement while retaining a sophisticated, matt finish.

What is "Full Body" porcelain?

Full body means the pigment runs through the entire thickness of the tile. If you chip it, the colour underneath is the same as the top, making chips invisible. This is superior to glazed tiles where the colour is only on the surface.

Can I use this tile outside?

Yes! Milan Lauro is frost-proof and non-porous, making it perfect for patios and balconies. It is also UV resistant so the deep blue colour won't fade.

Is it slippery?

It has an R10 Slip Rating, which is suitable for most internal and external areas. It provides a good balance of grip and ease of cleaning.

Does it need sealing?

No. Unlike natural stone, this unglazed porcelain is non-porous and resistant to staining. It requires no sealing.

Installation & care

Adhesive & Grout: Fix with a high-quality flexible adhesive and finish with a grout in a soft, tonal shade. For wet or external areas, specify a frost-resistant, exterior-grade system throughout.
Layout Options: Lay with a fine 3mm joint, shuffling tiles from several boxes to balance the natural depth of colour across the surface.
Cleaning: Sweep and mop with warm water and a mild cleaner. As a full-bodied unglazed porcelain it needs no sealing and resists staining, wear and frost.
