One Tile, Two Planes: Artworks County White Internal Wrapping Piece

A single 152 x 152mm ceramic tile pre-formed to turn an inward corner, so the glaze runs continuously around the angle — the Artworks County White Internal Wrapping Piece, from Hyperion Tiles, your official Original Style stockist.

Where two tiled walls meet, the usual answer is two cut edges and a grout joint. A wrapping piece replaces both: the tile is made with the corner already in it, so the glaze runs unbroken around the angle and the coursing stays aligned on both faces.

It is the neatest way to handle a window reveal, an alcove or a recessed shower, and it removes the weakest point in a tiled corner. A half-tile version is available for walls set out in the brick format.

Adhesive & Grout: Fix with a white flexible tile adhesive — a grey adhesive can shadow through the glaze — and grout in a soft off-white or warm putty tone, which sits more comfortably with County White's creaminess than a stark brilliant white.
Layout: Count the corners in your scheme and the number of courses each one turns, then order a piece for every course. Fit the corner pieces first and run the field tiles into them.
Cleaning: The gloss glaze is non-porous and needs no sealing. Wipe with warm water and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and acidic limescale removers, which will dull the surface over time.

What is an internal wrapping piece for?

It is a single tile pre-formed to turn an internal angle, so the glaze runs continuously around the corner instead of meeting in a cut butt joint. It gives a far neater junction than two cut tiles, and there is no vulnerable unglazed edge in the corner where a mop or a shower spray will find it.

How is the Internal Wrapping Piece supplied?

By the box of 2 pieces, each measuring 152 x 152 x 7mm and matched to the full-size field tile. Count the internal corners in your scheme and the height each one needs to run, then allow a piece for every field-tile course that turns the corner.

Will County White match across the different Artworks shapes and mouldings?

Every Artworks piece is finished in the same County White glaze, so field tiles, half tiles, mouldings, skirtings and wrapping pieces are designed to be used together. As with any glazed ceramic there can be slight variation between production batches, so we recommend ordering everything for a scheme at the same time.

Can Artworks Brilliant White tiles be used in a shower or wet room?

Yes. Artworks is specified for both wet and dry wall areas, so it is at home in a shower enclosure, a wet room or around a bath. The background must be sound, dry and properly tanked, and a flexible waterproof adhesive and grout should be used throughout the wet zone.

Can I see a sample before I order?

Yes. Cut samples are free to collect from our Ascot showroom, or we can post one to you for the cost of postage. Seeing the glaze in your own light is the surest way to judge how it will sit against your paint, stone and metalwork.
