Hypnos Brickbond Mosaic is made from glass — not ceramic, porcelain or natural stone. Small grey glass bricks are pre-mounted in a staggered brickbond pattern on a mesh-backed sheet measuring 402 x 205 x 6mm. Because it is glass, the surface is completely non-porous: it will not absorb water, will not stain, and never needs sealing. It also keeps a soft reflective quality that matt ceramic and natural stone cannot match. Yes. Glass is non-porous, so Hypnos Brickbond Mosaic is well suited to wet areas including shower enclosures, bath surrounds, vanity splashbacks and cloakrooms. Use a waterproof, flexible adhesive and a suitable grout, and make sure the substrate is properly prepared and tanked before tiling a shower. These tiles are for interior use only — they are not frostproof and should not be used outdoors. Our team is happy to advise on adhesive and preparation for your particular installation.

Hypnos Brickbond Mosaic is sold by the sheet. Each mesh-mounted sheet measures 402 x 205 x 6mm and covers 0.0824m², which works out at 12.13 sheets per square metre. To estimate your order, measure the width and height of each area and multiply for the square metreage, then multiply that by 12.13 and add roughly 10% for cuts and wastage. The mesh backing holds the brickbond pattern together, so the sheets go up far faster than loose mosaic and the grout spacing stays consistent. Use a bright white, flexible adhesive formulated for glass — a grey adhesive will show through the tile and dull the colour — and spread it evenly so trowel ridges do not telegraph through. The mesh can be trimmed with a sharp knife to fit around sockets and edges; where an individual glass piece has to be cut, use a wet saw with a glass blade. A splashback or small panel is within reach of a confident DIYer, but for a full wall we would recommend a professional tiler.

Very little maintenance is needed. Glass is non-porous, so Hypnos Brickbond Mosaic never requires sealing and will not stain. Clean with warm water and a standard glass cleaner using a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads, scouring creams and harsh chemicals, which will scratch the surface and dull the finish over time. A grout sealer on the joints is worth considering in a shower or behind a hob, as it keeps the grout lines looking fresh and easier to wipe down.
